Even adults can be nasty at times by calling other people names. That really does hurt other people's feelings. It's not cool to me made fun of because of anything. Growing up kids are called names for just about anything. Dressing differently, not having anything to call their own. You name it people are being called names. Well it needs to stop. I don't even think parents should allow siblings to get away with that at home. It will only gt worse in the school yard..

I made sure my son went to a school where discrimination nor bullying exists. My son never made fun of anybody, even incapacitated persons. I have observed him especially in his karate class where he has a teacher who has harelip. Usually other kids would make fun of those people but he didn't. He respected her and addressed her as his teacher and not the teacher with a harelip.

Right name calling needs to stop and I think it starts at home and if left with nothing being said it will carry over to school.

Yes it will. I never allowed the name calling in my home, not among my kids or my grand kids.

I agree. I don't allow my children to call each other names. If they do they have to sit down and compliment each other for 15 minutes. They have only had to do that one time-they learned that lesson quickly.

People who are mean to others are hurting inside. I think kids have to learn that early and know how not to personalize insults.

They say that names will not hurt you, but they do. A sting from a rock thrown will heal in time, but a name may hurt forever especially when the name calling is constant. Yes, it needs to stop.

yeah! i truly agree with you! One should learn to respect others for their own unique nature and characterstics. Parents should also play a role in teaching their kids about respecting people for who they are.

Yes you are right name calling hurts.I still remember all the names I was called in high school.Thankfully over the years this has declined but still sometimes I come across such people. The thing is these type of people are not happy in their life and gets happiness by mocking others.

Just remember the old saying, "Sticks and stones may break my bones but whips and chains excite me!"
