Movies in a country typically represent their cultures, beliefs and values. We tend to see each country has their own set of style or standards. In america for example we can see more movies focusing on having fun or finding oneself usually achieved by partying and exploring oneself while in Japan finding oneself will have to do more on reflecting on ones life and focusing more on helping friends and family finding your place in society. It also a common trend that horror movies in the west are filled with jump scares and lacking content; compare it to the Korean and Japanese movies who brings fear by the mood and setting. An example of this would be the movie: The Grudge There is a big difference between the american remake and the original one. I personally found the original one a lot scarier, not on jump scares but with the thought and the mood. Just sharing my thoughts :) And Yes That is a picture of Deadpool :) because he is awesome

All I know is … my husband said American movies bore him. So we started watching foreign films together. It began with renting them from the video store because the store had a foreign films section. Then we got a computer with Internt access and he started trying to find foreign films on YouTube. Finally my kids subscribed to Netflix. Although introduced to K-drama via Netflix, I find that the selection is not so good. So I have to hunt down free online video streaming elsewhere on the Internet for Korean drama. Even though we have to read English subtitles, which really wearies your eyes, they are a lot more interesting and entertaining. As for horror films, we don't like them. Not our favorite genre at all. We may watch one or two around Halloween time.

Yeah its a difference of culture, most Asian films today have deeper and more subtle vibe to eat it is similar to that of early Hollywood in America before they put all the explosions and CGI into the movies :) So to sum it up most American films are for entertainment with their resources and special effects while most foreign films are more introspective.
