Do not let the actions of others dictate yours

Many businessmen and citizens of our country do not pay the right amount of taxes. Their main justification is "Anyway, if I paid the right amount of taxes, it will just go into the pockets of crooks or stolen". I do not subscribe to this kind of reasoning. If people in government steal or squander the taxes you paid, that is their lookout and responsibility. They will be held accountable to God if not by the country. Among our duties and responsibilities as citizens is to pay the right amount of taxes without "ifs" and "buts". Any wrongdoing done by others would not justify you to do the same or any other wrongdoing. May the tribe of law-abiding citizens increase!

Each of us has our own brain and each has freedom to choose on something. The government leaders have too much problems already and we do not want to be an additional burden so we pay our taxes. However, it has been disappointing that while the poor and the middle class pay dutifully their taxes, business owners do not abide by it. For us working in the government, our tax are always deducted from our salary monthly. Whatever we bought from grocery stores have tax too and even we travel, still we pay for a tax. I just hope that what we have been giving the government are utilized properly for the benefit of all.

It's not only you who are working in government are deducted taxes from your salaries. More so with private sector employees. But as I said, those who pay their taxes dutifully have no problem with conscience; it's those who steal or squander it that should bear the burden of guilt. I have work for 32 years and I must have paid over a million in taxes on my salary, excluding the real property taxes that I pay.

Yes, we are one of those you mentioned who are dutifully paying our taxes; from income tax, real property tax, not to mention the VAT when we buy goods! Now we have high hopes that the new set of gov't. officials will really use those taxes in the coffers of the government for the benefit of the people.
