It is a heartwarming story. This Chinese woman who is a single mother works at a low paying job to provide for her twin daughters. Both her daughters have kidney problem and she brings them to the hospital for treatment. One of her daughter asks for a chicken thigh, and another asks for a book. 1 June is Children's Day in China. The woman has only 5 Yuan left after paying for the medical fee. She has no money to buy all the things that her daughters want. She steals, and gets caught. After listening to her story, the policeman posts in Wechat (something like Twitter in China) about her story. The policeman says that he is very touched after hearing her story. He further comments that the woman shows her "great love" for her daughters. The post goes viral, and the public donation crosses 300,000 Yuan. It is more than enough to pay for the treatment of the kidney problem for her daughters, and more than enough to buy chicken thigh and book.
On the night of May 31, a day before the Children's Day, a policeman in Nanjing caught a thief stealing a chicken thigh at a supermarket. But after learning the reasons behind this, the policeman couldn't

Thanks for sharing this act of kindness. It does the heart good to know that there are people out there who will help someone in need. We need to hear more stories like this every day. Sometimes we forget that humans do have hearts.

@Corbin5 I am especially touched by the policeman. At least he takes the initiative to write about it online. It is good when you have kind and compassionate policeman in the country. I think that is a really good story, and the kindness of the people is really touching.

@Marty1 I think the news channel should focus on real heartwarming stories. These will sell news more than talking about violence.

@LadyDuck there are many kind people in the world. They just do not know of anyone who needs help or they would have come forward sooner.

@scheng1 You are right and it's a shame that the media only talk about bad people.

It is hard to be a poor person with sick children in India and China. The government does not do much for them.

@skysnap Not much difference. The poor people still find it hard to pay for expensive medical fees.

Glad that the policeman actually pities her and sends such a message out. Glad that others read about it, and take action. This shows that good people are everywhere.

This is very sad to see that. In fact there are still some people who are poor and I really hope that the government will have more protection for them. Some government officers are just crazy rich and catch some of them will be already good enough to pay for many poor people's medical fees.

Yes, there should be some funds to help the poor, especially the children get well. China needs more young people, and it makes sense for the government to put some funds into it. The defense budget is getting bigger and bigger, but that makes no sense when they do not have bigger funds for medical purpose. If they can put money to investigate how to kill people, they should have bigger budget to heal its people.

This shows that God works in mysterious way. If she has not taken to the police station, nobody will know her story.

Not everyone dares to take the risk to steal chicken thigh from the supermarket. They will just tell their children that they cannot afford, and then miracles will not happen.
