A few years ago, my step daughter found two rolls of like new carpet by the curb.

The carpet was rolled up nicely and my step daughter said I should pick it up and put it in the trunk of the car and take it home because she wanted to lay the carpet down in our house. I didn't mind so much but the carpet was pretty heavy. Well, the carpet would not fit inside the trunk, lol. Instead, we had to roll down the back windows and place the carpet inside on one end to the floor board and let the other end stick out the opposite window a few extra feet, driving slowly and hoping not to be pulled over. It was low pile blue office type carpet which once placed in the two rooms of our house seemed to almost fit perfectly except one edge was cut out and we had to cut a second piece to fill in the gap. After she tacked it all down, as she had some experience with this type thing, my wife and I used Carpet foam and a vacuum cleaner and by the time we finished it was almost as good as new. I would have just drove by those rolls on the side of the street but my step daughter is more creative and industrious than I am.

Your daughter sounds a lot like me. If I were to find such a freebie I would pull over and load it up. My husband would think it tacky though. I was raised to never look a gift horse in the mouth. So if I see something I need and it is free, I am doing the happy dance.

You and I both agree on that. But I was mainly concerned that it would be full of bugs and well, If Oprah does it and she is a billionaire then humble Anthony shouldn't complain much.

Any time you can find like new carpet on the side of the road you should stop and try to get it home. She was surely an eagle eye while you were not.

That is great that you got those rolls of rug and can make good use of them. I would not have taken them either.

I did it because I did not want to discourage her. After it was laid down on the bare wood flooring and shampooed it actually looked okay. Besides, she wanted a soft floor because she was staying with us at the time and my wife and I got a new carpet for the bedroom to replace an ugly pink one that did in fact have stains on it in places. The color of the carpet was sky blue and I do in fact like sky blue.

It is a chance you take. It might be nice, new carpet. It might have a big ugly stain in the middle. You never know until you unroll it.

If there was a big ugly spot in the middle I would throw an extra round throw rug on it and place a coffee table smack dab on that. lol

You never know what you will find when you travel around Dallas streets. Maybe even a box of old books. That would be funtastic.
