The Plane, The Plane

We noticed this when she was a puppy. She stopped in her tracks while playing because something caught her eye. Except, what caught her eye was in the sky. Was it a bird? Nope, seen plenty of dogs look up at low flying birds. Not even superman has anything on her perception. Meaning, it was not superman either, sad to say. It was indeed a plane that caught Brooklyn's eye. The funny thing is she followed the plane with her eyes, as it flew over her head, all the way until it was out of sight. I have never seen a dog notice a plane before or at least care about it. Tristan, my dog that recently had to be put down was running with a low flying private airplane down in the river bed one time. He could careless about the darn thing. All he cared about was chasing bunny rabbits. Yesterday, I walk outside and there is Brooklyn just sitting there. Looking up at the sky, as another plane is flying over her head. I think I could hear her say, "Look, the plane, the plane." Do you know of any dogs who do this?

Bird dogs are common. Brooklyn appears to be a "Plane dog". A much rare species.

I like that a plane dog. Maybe she is telling me she wants to go skydiving. What do you think? Should I take her skydiving?

We have a small airport near our house, so small planes often fly over. My dogs bark at them, just because they hear the motor. I don't know that they ever see the planes, and realize that's where the noise is coming from.

That makes sense. You should check to see if they actually watch them, but you would have probably noticed by now.

I've never seen a dog notice a plane before. We do have a cat that watches hockey, though.

@crossbones27 - She watches for a couple minutes, then gets up there and swats at the players as they skate up ice.
