Everyone has probably heard of the evil emperor of Rome Caligula, the guy was truly insane, killing many of his own family, one of which was his 14 year old cousin, he also had sexual relations with his own sister, who was also married to another man, his supposed friend and, did many other disgusting things, he was eventually killed by his own guard, but here is the part I didn't already know, apparently in the 1930's, archeologists drained a lake and, found 2 giant luxury ships, he had built and, used to throw parties, about the size of two football fields, they were almost fully intact and, had survived over 2000 years under water, they were destroyed during world war 2 though.

Yes, Caligula was deranged for sure. I believe we have many deranged running things in the USA. Must come with the job.

Yes, that's the sad part, would be cool to have those in a giant history museum.

There is/was an Italian association that wants/wanted to rebuild one. I think that it is a mad project.

@jstory07 were they totally destroyed by WWII opeartives or that is just what is leading the public to believe ? ooops maybe I should be asking @TRBRocks420 ? is anything salvageable that could be museum worthy if not answers to political queries for that time period ?

I don't think I've heard of Caligula, or if I have I don't remember it. So these ships were from his reign?

@TRBRocks420 I don't want to downplay the incest, obviously it's very wrong. However, our own history, cousins married cousins.. Of course brother and siste rare just utterly disgusting and I wonder if he didn't force his hand...

Caligula was, or became, insane. I have read theories that it was due to lead poisoning from the plumbing. Most of the plumbing in ancient Rome was sealed with lead.

He also had a terrible childhood. I can't remember what all happened to him now, but it was bad and, sad we are still worrying about lead in water today, just recently it was found in schools around the Oregon area.
