Kansas City Royals call up Christian Colon from the minor leagues

KMBC reports from Baltimore Maryland the Kansas City Royals have demoted third string catcher Tony Cruz to their AAA minor league team the Omaha Storm Chasers after starting catcher Salvador Perez has returned to the lineup on June 4, 2016 after he has fully recovered from his quad injury that sidelined him since May 29, 2016. The Royals have Drew Butera to back up Perez on their current 25 man roster at this time. The Royals have called up from the Storm Chasers infielder Christian Colon who had been demoted to the minor leagues on May 18, 2016 after his batting average of .250 did not impress the Royals management. Cruz had been promoted from the minor leagues by the Royals on May 29, 2016 to serve as the backup catcher to Drew Butera after Perez injured his quad but he was not placed on the 15 day disabled list by the Royals.
