It's a Bright and Sunny Day

United States
June 9, 2016 9:33am CST
After all those thunderstorms and heavy rain yesterday it's nice to wake up to a beautiful sunny day today. The storms lowered the temperatures a bit so it's actually more like spring than summer. It's a bit on the windy side but pleasantly so. I'll be heading off to the hospital shortly to spend time with my mom. It's still a struggle trying to get into a new routine and getting things done around the house while I spend hours each day away from home. I've eaten at Wendy's so often this past week that the girl pretty much knows my order by heart already Today is the last day of school for my grandchildren so they are happy to have the months ahead to do what they want. It seems as if this past school year went by faster than all the others. Hope everyone is having a good day!!

I am still praying for your mom I hope she is starting to recuperate. It is hard at 94 to recover from surgery. At least you get to eat Wendy's it could be worse, it could be Burger KIng!! lol

Lol @ Burger King. Her recovery has been slower than I expected but doctors say she's doing well.

Its too bad that you cannot pack a sandwich or a bagel to eat when you get hungry, just to change things up a little. I hope that your mother is improving every day.

@Marilynda1225 Does your mother have much of an appetite yet? I remember when my Dad was in the hospital at the end, he wanted to come home, and they denied him, so strawberries were in season, and I picked up some, washed them and brought him a dish. We fed them to him.

How far do you have to go to visit your Mum? My mum had a hip replacement at 99 and I spent hours at the hospital. Sometimes I stayed the night in a recliner type chair. It was a difficult period. Then she'd only been home a few days and fell and sustained a hairline fracture of the pelvis so it was back into hospital for another six weeks.

The hospital is only 20 minutes away. Its difficult to practically live there as you know. Now they are saying rehab when she gets discharged medically as she has lost a lot of her strength in her legs & needs to be able to stand & walk again

@Marilynda1225 Often medications can make the dementia worse for a while too.

A change of routine can be rather disorienting at times, despite how minor it may be.

I understand how difficult it must be for you as you are spending so much time at the hospital, but your mom obviously priority over household chores.
