"Shake the Disease" was a new song added to "The Singles 81-85" compilation album. The song was a major hit in Europe and uncharted in the US where it received heavy alternative radio play like most DM singles.
"I'm not going down on my knees
Begging you to adore me
Can't you see it's misery
and torture for me"
Lead singer Dave Gahan describes "Shake the Disease" as a love song. Yeah, a love is painful song. He pleads to be understood and that it is coming from his heart.
"You know how hard it is for me to shake the disease
That takes hold on my tongue in situations like these"
"Shake the Disease" makes the list because it was a favorite of a girl I once liked.
