My husband and I are planning to fly to Arkansas to see his relatives. I haven't flown in a few years and would love some advice and helpful hints about packing, best kind of luggage, etc. I sure don't want to get to the airport and find that my carry-on bag is two inches or two pounds over the limit and have to pay to have it checked instead. Thanks, guys!

I think each airline has it's own limits on baggage, so you need to check with them. When you buy your ticket it should be stated then.

Yes, I've checked with their web site, just wondered if anyone had some tips for traveling.

@1creekgirl I travel quite a lot, but everybody is different. Basically I decide what I want to take, then go through it and put half of it back in the cupboard!

@jaboUK I need to remember that! I usually bring home things I didn't even wear.

Go to the airlines website. They have all the information there about what is acceptable for size and weight of luggage.

I don't have any suggestions really but I love the photo. I've always been told to think about 'layers' of clothes.

Thanks, I've read that's a good idea. But then I read that it's not. So, who knows?

The funny thing about when the airlines started charging for checked bags, the carry ons became regular luggage. I swear, what they try to cram into the overhead bins is ridiculous. But so is charging for checked bags frankly.
