What do you think about politicians who exploit tragedies for personal advantage?

It did not take long for Donald Trump to say "I told you so" after the Orlando shootings, and to make all sorts of assumptions that are far from certain. He thinks this will gain him votes, but won't it also deter many who regard this as mere opportunism?

I am thinking it may gain him some votes - Heaven forbid! I wonder how this will all play out and how it will be regarded in 10 years time.

What politician doesn't pander for votes? Trump is no guiltier of this than Obama or Clinton or anyone else. He cannot be condemned when others are as guilty.

@JohnRoberts That's true but in this case it is a windfall for him. I think many politicians are tarrred with the same brush.

But I think there will be some who are ready to believe anything Mr.Trump says. They do not care about those innocent people who lost thir lives.

Whether or not one agrees with Trump, he raises questions and issues that need addressing. He made no such assumptions except to repeat that the US needs to temporarily suspend Islamic immigrants from entering the country until a comprehensive vetting system is put into place. We in American do want the kind of Islamic zones that you have in the UK where Muslim laws are in force and non-Muslims are not welcome and in peril.

John, I do not know what you mean by "Islamic zones that you have in the UK where Muslim laws are in force and non-Muslims are not welcome and in peril." Whoever has been telling you this clearly does not have the faintest idea about life in the UK, where there are no "no-go areas" for anybody.
