Another hit from the "Violator" album, "Policy of Truth" was a solid success in America attaining Billboard Hot 100 #15, Dance #2 and Alternative #1. "It's over time to pay the price for not listening to advice and deciding in your youth on the policy of truth" There is a bit of rhyming in this song. The theme of "Policy of Truth" is unusual as it advocates it is better to lie because "problems multiply if you follow the policy of truth." Dave Gahan sings that you better learn your lesson and hide what you have to hide. There must be a story behind songwriter Martin Gore's inspiration. The B side to "Policy of Truth" is the fine electronic instrumental "Kaleid."
