Is this normal?

Few minutes back my boss came and told me to work on his presentation. This is the most irritating thing which I can ever think of. 'To make someone else's presentations'. I am completely clueless what is his thought process, what he wanted to present, how much time he has to present. Moreover, I have never heard that a presenter not preparing his own presentation. Is it normal? Or am I overreacting?

If you have been working with your boss for many years and could tell exactly how his mind works like if you are his personal assistant, that seems normal. Otherwise, NO! In my case, I never trust my PA to do my presentation.

I had a boss that asked me all the time to do things for him like that. My boss did it because he knew I was better at it than he was, and wanted it to be the best it could be. Your boss is either thinking that, or he is just lazy. Either way, you prove yourself to be indispensable when you do things like these. If you don't know what the presentation is about, ask him. See if he has any notes you might be able to use. But personally? I would do it. Sounds good on a resume. "prepared professional presentations for meetings for supervisor." or something like that. Good luck!!

Although the presenter should prepare his own presentations, it is not uncommon for them to have it prepared by their juniors. Take it as an experience for you.
