Family Wedding in the Napa Valley

Many of you will remember that two years ago one of our daughters collapsed with a brain aneurysm. The only reason she is alive today is because she was on her first date with a retired paramedic. They had only been together for about 30 minutes. He recognized what was happening to her and rushed her to the hospital. If she had been alone or if he had just had her lay down to rest, she would have died within an hour or two.
A few weeks ago, she and the retired paramedic got married. It was a second wedding for both of them, so they "eloped" to Hawaii.
This weekend, our family is having a large celebration in the romantic Napa Valley, which is where our daughter lives and has taught school for many years. Three of our four daughters and three of our grandchildren will be there. There will be a small party on Friday, a reception for two-hundred guests on Saturday, and a barbecue for friends and family on Sunday, plus smaller gatherings at breakfast and other meals.
After the weekend is over, our daughter who lives in New York will be bringing her family to Southern California to say with us for another 10 days.
Life is going to be crazy for me until July 8th.
I will try to pop on here once in a while to respond to a comment or check out how everyone else is doing. However, there will probably be gaps in time when you don't hear from me.

Yes, their first date was very memorable. She thought she would never see him again, since she ended up in the hospital for almost a month! However, everything turned out well and now they are married. Very unusual way to meet!

This craziness is the flip side of having four children. Personally, I think there is far more good than the reverse, but I would get pretty pooped out with a visit right after a trip. It's financially practical, but exhausting. Naps. Take lots of naps.

Sounds like a fun time with family and friends. We'll be having a party to celebrate my mom's eighty-eighth birthday on the eighth or ninth, I don't remember which. Cool that she was out with the guy that recognized the signs of an aneurysm before it took place and that she's done well after that. Enjoy your time and don't worry about us.
