At last my 2 balikbayan boxes are done and are ready to be picked up by the freight company who are sending containers to the Philippines. Balikbayan boxes are corrugated boxes to be send to the Philippines without paying taxes. I could fill with anything which are not prohibited like electrical appliances, food and clothes which are already used. In my case I send my things which I don't use here in Germany.but useful in my home in the Philippines. Now I can relax and wait for my time to fly. Enjoy your weekend mylotters.

@DianneN, Balikbayan is a Tagalog word, in English it means the homecoming of the overseas workers to Philippines.

@DianneN it is the box I use for sending goods to the Philippines. I was in good mood at that time and told my hubby to take a photo of me for MyLot. Balikbayan is a Tagalog word which means coming home. Balikbayan box is a corrugated box send to the Philippines mostly use by overseas workers. Filipino expats like me are using this shipping method also to send our used but still good clothes, shoes and some canned goods to our beloved ones in our home country.

Yes, I am funny indeed @hereandthere. Of course just a small electrical appliances. It is not worth it to send washing machines and refrigerator so to the Philippines. You can buy there. I sent flat screen TV once as it was cheaper here than there and it arrived safely.

Yes, they are @JudyEv. There are also companies in Australia who are shipping these boxes to the Philippines. The box is huge as you can see in the photo and it is cheaper that sending by mail. It usually takes 2 months to arrive in your home (door to door service). Well it depends which country you are sending from. The balikbayan box company I am using came from the Netherlands. They brought me the corrugated empty boxes with tapes and paper to fill up what goods I was sending. When I was done with packing, I called them and the owner came to my house and collected the boxes. The boxes have tracking numbers and I would know where they are at the moment. Then the boxes arrive in my home in the Philippines. Sometimes, I am the one who receive them .

To whom do you send all that stuff? I guess that is an awful lot of stuff to send across continents. I am sure the ones who receive the stuff are happy.

I am sending the boxes to myself. I will be there to give some of the content to my relatives but some are for my own consumption and for making my cakes as I have some ingredients like flavoring and other cake decorations. I am already happy about receiving them @sofssu
