Do you prefer board games or card games? I love both and tonight is game night! I belong to a group that meets a couple times a month to have dinner together and play games. We meet in the party room of iHop or Denny's because we can stay as late as we want and the party room is free. We meet at 6:00 and have dinner first then at 7:00 the games begin with a group game. After a couple of rounds the group breaks up to smaller individual games.
I usually stay until somewhere between 10:00 to midnight. It's a lot of good clean fun. Everyone there loves to play. There are plenty of singles, some couples and some leave their spouses at home with the kids because their spouse either doesn't like to play or they take turns coming. It's a group for adults but one gentleman always brings his 10 year old nephew who plays as a full member. I don't know the back story but it doesn't bother me or anyone else.
It's the best fun especially when learning a new game. The nice thing is people come and go all evening. No one cares if you can't make dinner, or if you can only play for a hour or so. It's totally an open house event. We usually have from 12 to 40 players at any one time so there are lots of different games going on.

I enjoy many games - I especially love word games like Scrabble

@Jeanniemaries I've only played in homes. I bought a game for Florida. That should be a fun night when we go down again.

@DianneN Yes, when you have a circle of friends that like to play. In Ohio I had a friend who hosted game nights fairly often at her home. Always so fun. She usually has one when I visit. Now her sister goes even one better and has big prizes.

Scrabble is one of my favorites, my husband liked chess but I didn't play well and was a poor player. I couldn't get the concept of planning a strategy.

That sounds like a lot of fun. We play texas hold 'em poker every week at Mike's parents. I like either board or card games. We use to play other stuff but with Mike's dad's eyesight being so bad he we tell him what the cards are. The other games don't work as well for him anymore. Have a blessed day

Sounds like fun! We used to play Pinochle with my parents and grandmother (who was an expert and you better play right!) I love it.

I even love solitaire. My cousins taught us a double solitaire you play against a partner called "Swish". Gosh we had fun with that game!

Oh that's interesting. there is nothing like this near my house, otherwise I would also join. I love playing Scrabble, Chess and carom board. I am not a fan of cards though, but my husband and daughter play very well.

Sounds like your game night is a lot of fun. I do enjoy getting together with my grandchildren and play some cards. I'm not much into board games

Yes, family game night for me is the best. Three of my four grandchildren love to play games.

Very nice reading it. I like this type of gathering. But, here this opportunity is less. Whenever they find the time they just come and leave spending sometimes, about the go-round-news and family news. That's all.
