I bought a guitar yesterday

What started out as an "annual" garage sale," with some advertising and signs here at our club house in the retirement community where we live, became a residents' only swap meet yesterday. As I suspected when I heard that news, most stuff carted over there with hopes of selling it, was carted back home or donated to Goodwill stores. Anne had two large tables full of stuff we did not get rid of when we moved here, and sold very little. I was working yesterday so wasn't involved in the sitting around with the merchandise, but brought the heavy stuff home last night. I will say it was worthwhile though, for me anyway, since my friend Tom, decided to sell his extra guitar and case. For $75, I got an Ibanez PF 10 guitar with an old but good hard case. This is not my first "rodeo" with a guitar, but I have more time to play and practice now, and Tom will work with me too. I think that I have him convinced to take part in that "Kingston Trio" group I am trying to get started. I wrote about that a few weeks ago (April 24), and have some music books on the way that I bought on eBay.

I took two items to my neighbor's estate sale yesterday. No one even inquired about buying them. I'll take the 125 year old stained glass window from London to a consignments store and donate the Kirby vacuum to the Goodwill. And so it goes. But you made out really well. Congrats on your "new" guitar.

@JamesHxstatic The teacher or coach will be key. I tried ukulele lessons, but my teacher was a pain. Too pushy and rude. So the ukulele sits. Hopefully I will find someone who is nice to teach me. Have fun!

The guitar looks great and the hard case is a bonus. I'm sure you'll have lots of happy hours strumming away.

@JudyEv That is a good thought! Jazz is my favorite. Does he play a stand-up bass?

@JamesHxstatic Our son is a jazz bassist and won't wash dishes because it softens the callouses he has built up. He doesn't mind wiping up though so it's all good! Maybe you now have an excuse to get out of doing the dishes.

I grew up in that other era and before, so those songs are pretty familiar. I work at my part-time job with a guy from the New Orleans area.

Sounds like you got a good deal on the guitar and case and may have even found another person who is interested in taking part in the musical group. Sorry nothing was sold on your table.

She sold a few things, but all the bigger stuff is back in our garage for the moment, on its way to Goodwill soon.

That seems like a reasonable price for a guitar - I hope that you can get a group together.

I have been a rover/I have walked alone/hiked a hundred (thousand?) highways/never found a home/still in all I'm happy...The Kingston Trio was the soundtrack for my first five years, thanks to my progressive parents.

I used to have a guitar but never learned to use it. I sold it last year for $50 with all of the stuff that comes with it.

This is about my third guitar and I did the same thing with the first two. I hope to do better with this one.
