Reader's Digest

Do you remember Reader's Digest magazines? We subscribe to them, and digest valuable information from every page. They would be a classic collector's items now, would they be? I wonder how much you'd get to sell those first edition volumes for?

I've been a Reader's Digest reader from my elementary to college. In fact, its Word Power has helped me top the college entrance scholarship exam.

@everwonderwhy Thanks :) We owe it to our high school English class teacher who always made it a point to give us exams on RD's Word Power monthly.

Oh, I didn't think about online Reader's Digest. I wonder if they are open for freelancers to write or research for them? I'd like to see their website. :-)

Oh yes I absolutely used to love them and subscribed for them as well. I still have a pile of them back in my home and there are times when I would just sit down with a mug of coffee and go through them all over again...it gets kind of nostalgic.

We lost all of them with moving houses. We can still get them from OPShops or thrift stores, garrage sales and secondhand book shops. I'd like to replenish my memory of the Reader's Digest booklets. The short stories there were life's treasures. Also, I loved the feature on vocabulary words.

We had a subscription when I was a kid (a very long time ago!). It was one of the highlights of the month to get a new Reader's Digest. They're still a good little magazine but I don't subscribe to them any more.

Readers Digest used to be my favorite book. I had subscribed and had whole lot of books. Most of them I have given off to a local library. Those were the days with much of gadget intervention, would take a book and get engrossed for hours together.

Our high-tech-gadget-engrossed teens would not touch them. Unless I bribe them with cash to get them to read a page. LOL!

One of my favourite book ever I use during my college days and till now

What did you read for research and fact-based studies? College days were good memories. But as I grow older, research and much reading for my learning is a pastime I cannot give up yet. Even I'm a grandma already.

They were good fun to read but I don't think they would be worth a lot although I could easily be wrong.

I doubt there is any value to old Reader's Digests. Most vintage magazines have no value unless there is someone like Marilyn Monroe on the cover or 1920s movie magazines.

I also like reading this before. It is quite pricey nowadays.

There are a lot of them sold for $2.00 a box from our local OpShop (thrift store). There are a few from a secondhand/antique shop. It'd be interesting if I do buy-and-sell on those collector's RD First Editions. I wonder. ??

I still enjoy Readers Digest. I don't think the old ones would be valuable though.

Classic First Edition ones sell good money. There are collector's-items buyers out there and sell good money for our antiques.
