Is Eating Eggs Along With Yolk Harmful?

I cannot eat eggs without their yolks. I simply love scrambled eggs anytime of the day or even at dinner. But the thought of having eggs without yolk kills my appetite and love for eggs. Somewhere I hear that eggs are healthy over all along with the yolks. And some people tell me that the yolks are harmful. If I eat eggs I either eat the scrambled version for breakfast or for dinner. I don't include bread with it, I take it simply as proteins. But I mostly prefer my eggs scrambled. How do you eat your eggs? Scrambled, boiled, without the yolks, Omlete or crepes or some other ways?

Both the yolk and the white of an egg are nutritious. There is nothing harmful about eating either or both, provided that the egg came from a healty hen. There is a danger, of course, if the hen (and therefore the egg) is infected with salmonella bacteria, so you should always be able to trust the source of your eggs. The yolk also contains fats which can lead to high cholesterol if too much is eaten. As long as eggs are part of a balanced diet, however, there is absolutely no harm in eating them in whatever way you wish.

I think the cholestrol thing is a little scary. I eat eggs once in a week or once in two weeks. And I make 3 eggs scrambled I hope I am not getting too much over them. Though I really need to check my cholestrol level these days. I have been eating like there is no tomorrow.

@Archie0 3 eggs once a week is not going to do you any harm at all. There are two types of cholesterol - a 'good' and a 'bad' - but both are actually essential and a balanced diet and exercise are all that is normally needed to keep within safe limits.

Yolks are full of protein - if you are not allergic or anything they are not harmful

I love eggs with yolk. Eating eggs without yolks pretty much bugs me. Am not allergic to eggs but, also I am not a regular egg eater.

@Archie0 then you should be fine - I know there are many countries than dont encourage the yolk - its the cholesterol levels that it affects

I like steamed eggs, soft-boiled eggs (with dark soya sauce, and pepper), omelette, and sunny side up. I do not eat just the yolk. I always eat the whole eggs, and I do not have cholesterol problem, unlike those who go all the way to avoid the yolk and still have cholesterol problem.

The yolk is really only unhealthy for you if you have high cholesterol. Otherwise, it should be fine. I have heard from a doctor that 2 eggs per day is the healthy maximum, however.

If you are not overweight and have other healthy problems, eating the yolk is no problem at all. As york also contains many nutrions. It is a waste to get rid of it.

Your post made me recollect my childhood. The Doctor advised me to take eggs for a week. I became over smart and took raw eggs with yolk along with milk. Ater 3 days it led to vomiting of blood. I rushed to the doctor. He checked me and after knowing the position 'Are you Cannibal?' was his question?
