One more trip to go!

I've just returned from my house and I only have one more trip to go there and then I will walk out for the last time. It's in foreclosure and it will be sold next week. I know it's been in the paper. I've been inundated by letters from attorneys wanting me to hire them for bankruptcy or mortgage refinancing or other assorted legal maneuvers that would cost me more money than I have. So I'm going through every room to make sure I've taken everything I really want to keep. And then I can say goodbye, knowing that house has been good to my family, I've been good to the house and it's time to move on. Meanwhile, my cat and I have settled in nicely at the apartment. I'm very much looking forward to July 4th and the fireworks that I should be able to see right outside my living room windows. I've invited my nephew to come and spend the day with me, and I know that will be a very enjoyable day for both of us! Hope you're having a good day! -Claudia- image from pixabay

It's the best way to now just put it in the past. Best of luck in your new place. It's great not to have the worries of a homeowner at this time.

I agree. I couldn't keep things going there without any help. Life here is very simple and I need that right now. I can take baby steps to begin to reach out again and see if I can make a friend or two.

We make many new beginnings in our lifetime and the ones we make later in life are usually the ones that turn out best---for us! Good luck with your move. Enjoy the fireworks and your nephew!

Yes, this is my new life. It's bittersweet but it has to happen. As they say, all good things must come to an end.

Yes, the apartment has made my life easier in a lot of ways. I'm very grateful to be here. And my nephew always makes me smile and laugh so having him here is always a bonus.

I guess whatever is left in the house goes with the sale? I'm glad you're happy where you are now.

Yes, whatever is left in the house is theirs to dispose of or keep or whatever. Not my problem anymore.

I am glad you are at peace with your decisions. What a wonderful way to look at it; the house having been good to your family, and you have been good to your house.
