~Life Changing Decision~

I have a really big decision to make soon. It is one of those big, life changing decisions. I am not ready to say what it is here just yet but I have a lot of thinking and praying to do before doing anything. I need to let the Lord guide my way on this one. In one week I will be making the decision. What do you do when you have a HUGE decision to make? How do you make a choice?

I don't know what sort of decision you may be making but for me if possible I do a lot of research. If it's more personal I ask people I trust. The good thing about this place is that you've literally hundreds of people to ask about something so maybe take advantage of it?? I don't go down the religious lines as I do not believe in current religions so I'd obviously not be a fan of praying and such. If I can help in any way feel free to send me a message and whatever you say will go no further.

@sugartoes I've offered my humble opinion on two of your topics which appeared to deal with the same thing. I'm here a lot so feel free to get back to me if you want clarification or reasons behind my opinions.

I pray, like you are doing, then I often get input from people I know who are wise, and that I can trust. It also helps me to think about the worst thing that could come of it, and then the best thing that can from it.

Yes, I often think what is the worst that can happen if I make this decision.

It depends on what the huge decision is. Of course, as many know, I am not happy with my current employer. I have begun the process of looking for another job. Still, I am torn between leaving and staying. There are many clients that I will miss. I weigh the good with the bad and if one outweighs the other, I make a plan. Yes, sometimes I turn it over to the Lord for guidance. There have been times when personal issues were troubling me. I prayed.

@ElusiveButterfly It's something I could possibly feel guilt and regret about my entire life. I am scared. I am going to write in my prayer journal, pray about it, and do more research.

@LovingMyBabies thinking and praying are good, but I believe that writing about it may offer you the solution that you need.

Sometimes, I do need to think about it, but I do also try to listen to when my gut instincts are telling me.

I dont think I am the one to ask about this, as many of my decisions turn out to bite me, in fact most of the major decisions I have made, have. However, you have to do the best you can with the circumstances you know to be true at the time.

@snowy22315 There is no good outcome with this decision I have to make anyway honestly. Either way stinks and so I am just going to do the best I can.

Oh dear. That is scary and tough. As I read through the interactions above on the discussion, I am feeling worried. As you have not mentioned what decision and how it is going to affect, it becomes more difficult to say what would I have done if in your shoes. I do agree with all of them who say you should consult others and keep the faith on the Lord. I only pray that you stay sane while taking such a life changing decision and also stay sane after.

When I have a big decision to make I do a lot of research about what it is I'm deciding about, talk it out with my wife, measure the pros and cons, pray, and then decide.

@DWDavis I have been doing research on it, I have been praying about it, talked with my husband about it & a close friend, and the last thing I need to do is weigh the pros and cons.

I would write out all the pros and cons especially the ones about how it would affect other family members. And pray a lot to ask God to show you what He wants you to do.

I think about it. I make a list of the good and bad of the various choices. I talk to appropriate people about it. (people who have had similar situlation and/or the people involved) Then I decide and make the best of my decision. It doesn't mean I never look back and wish I had decided differently, but I never beat myself up about it and I live with my decision. take care.

@paigea I think I am going to do the pro/con list and see what I come up with too. I am worried about the regret or guilt I will feel with this decision. That is what worries me the most.

Before I make a huge decision, I think about it many times. I ask guidance from Him and suggestions from other persons. I also consider the positive and negative side of my decision to make.
