The preschool corn is seven feet tall!

Man, did I get a surprise when I volunteered at the preschool yesterday. We'd been on Spring/Summer Break, so I hadn't been there in 13 days. The corn, which had been about four feet tall last time I checked, was seven feet tall yesterday! The kids were pretty excited ("It's bigger bigger bigger!" gesturing like this), and so was I. I saw a couple of ears forming, and will check things again next week. I'll attach a photo I took about two-and-a-half weeks ago. I'll be in LA for a couple of days (wedding), so I'd better give the balcony plants some extra water as well.

I think it is great that they are showing and teaching the small kids the benefits of growing vegetables.

Most of the teachers like to do herbs and lettuce, which the kids can nibble on if they ask a teacher. I do corn, snow peas and green beans, as each "harvest" is really exciting.

If it is 7 feet at preschool then it must be enormous at the college.

I'm convinced there's some kid of drip irrigation there, though nobody seems to know for sure.

@TheHorse Corn is pretty hardy so it does not take that much care.

We have only four plants. I hope they can figure out what they need to do with each other--the birds and bees stuff. I may help them along a bit.

I was going to say that corn didn't look all that tall, but I see it's a photo before it's growth spurt. You have plantings all over the place, is it because you don't have enough ground where you live to plant things?

Good idea. You don't need the plant police to arrest you for plant neglect. Have fun at the wedding.
