....Counting down only 4 more sleeps........

Camping, summer, vacation, reunion, family
Canada

My sister and I have been making lists and tomorrow we will do our shopping. We have to do it now to get some of our meals frozen. We also will freeze blocks of ice for our coolers. At the end of week one we will buy the meat we need for the second week, most of the meals are being made by our kids, but we do breakfast for everyone. We are doing a reunion. My sisters three girls, their five children and husbands will be there for the reunion. My two sons and daughter will be there too for thr second weekend. Our last reunion was nine years ago. Looking forward to the insanity... We had hoped everyone would be there to celebrate one of the girls great new job in Spain. She won't be back for at least three years, and might be there for life. Elaine and I got our pops-ups put up today and figured how to put gutters between them so if it rains (it is going to rain quite a bit) so the rain won't get us wet as we walk from one pop up to another, including our kitchen.. The photo above shows all 4 pop-ups attached to each other and our kitchen pop-up and the one in front of it is covered with a tarp to help keep us dry. It worked like a charm. We are ready now to get there to camp and get set up. Wednesday is the day. We set up in my sister's side yard, that's why you see all our cars.

The grand dogs are staying in Canada., there are two three year olds, one five,, two seven year olds twins, so my kids decided it was wiser to leave the dogs with someone they love, since they are not familiar with children that young.i do have photos I took at other years before the babies were born. ...when I get home, iLl post some of those photos of the dogs in the river.

Oh I remember a couple of those from Gather.com @PainsOnSlate but I think it was only Woods and the shepherd, I forgot her name. I think we'd all love any pictures you post, you have an eye.

So glad to hear that you will be getting the family reunion in before the daughter/niece leaves for Spain. I hope you take lots of pictures. Your children/grandchildren are so fortunate that you and your sister have kept this family tradition strong and alive throughout the years.

We love to camp and I'm so happy that we did this when they were small. My sister was divorced back then and a teacher with summers off, my husband worked from May to November and still does so we just do it. Looking forward to seeing them all together again.

that's wonderful, i know y'all're so lookin' ferward to the "down time" 'n how better to spend part'f such than with family? congrats'n her new job - i hope that she finds great joy there. now see? that's what i'd been doin', figurin' schtuff out prior to headin' out. not the hubs, he's more'f a "fly by the seat 'f yer britches" kinda fella 'n then jest comes home'n complains how his trip 'twas ruined 'n he's now webbed feet.

When we were younger and the kids tiny when we planned camping we learned quickly that planning and organization means once there you don't have to leave the site to shop for something forgotten, the nearest city is a long way away but in a pinch we could buy in the local tiny town and pay inflated prices.. We got really good at it. One of Elaine's daughter is meeting us there this morning to HELP us set up. It will be wonderful to have an extra pair of hands... we packed the cars last night, today we fill our coolers with ice and food and by 10 hope to be on the road.

@PainsOnSlate i'm so glad that her daughter's comin' to help y'all set'p, hon. i hear ya'n the packin' all that'll be needed. i ne'er 'twas one to wanna make that trek to the nearest town myself, lol. not jest the prices they charge, but to be back'n semi-civilization when i jest t'weren't ready fer such. i'll be thinkin' 'f y'all, wishin' i could sneak off 'n join ya...if'n only fer a couple'f days. big hugs 'n love! save journey!

Sounds like a lot of prep work, but definitely worth it if it helps you stay dry. It also sounds like it's going to be a great time with everyone there.

We have a huge site we discovered last year. All the kids will have their own site with their tents on, some meals will be shared, but naps and regular daily things will be done on their own sites. Our site will be a centrepiece but it will be fun and we go for two weeks and the kids are there for w weekend....
