Only 4 More Days!

Our wedding day is just 4 days away! The butterflies are really getting excited in my tummy just thinking about it. I can't wait to be married and become my fiance's wife! It makes me feel so happy thinking about becoming Mrs. Hawkins. The only slight work that comes with the wonderful life of marriage is changing everything with my maiden name to my married name! Like I have to change my social security card, id, and I have to work on changing my name on my college stuff and hopefully I won't have any problems receiving my grants for financial aid. Other than that I look forward to being Mrs. Ivelisse Hawkins for the rest of my life. I know the name will take some serious getting used to, but not for long. Did you change or keep your last name when you were married? If you were to get married what would you do?

When I got married 51 years ago we didn't get any choice - we just took our husband's name automatically. I hope you have a lovely wedding, good luck.

In my country women don´t change their name when they get married, at least not legally. Some women like to be called Mrs. (and the husband´s last name). But it is slowly being outdated.

Wow! Best wishes. It would surely make you so excited. I changed my surname but I always affix my middle initial.

Never been married. In case someone wants to marry me in the future, I intend to keep my maiden name for purposes of consistency & uniformity in all my records. Also, as a sign of respect & gratitude to my parents who financed my education until I've graduated from law school, I will carry their name even after marriage.
