The Associated Press reports the Detroit Tigers on Monday have placed right handed starting pitcher Jordan Zimmerman on the 15 day disabled list with a strain on his neck. Zimmerman's time on the 15 day disabled list is retroactive to July 1, 2016. Zimmerman will be eligible to return to the Tigers active roster after the 2016 Major League Baseball All Star Game that will be played in San Diego California on July 12, 2016. Right handed pitcher Anibal Sanchez will replace Zimmerman as the starting pitcher for the Detroit Tigers on Monday evening in Cleveland Ohio when the Cleveland Indians host the Tigers at Progressive Field. The Tigers have promoted from their AAA minor league team the Toledo Mud Hens right handed pitcher Dustin Molleken to replace Zimmerman on the Tigers 25 man active roster on Monday.

This hurts the Tigers who are chasing a wild card spot.

That is true since Zimmerman is one of their most valuable pitchers on their team.
