The Associated Press reports the news on Thursday the Atlanta Braves have activated from the 15 day disabled list infielder Gordon Beckham. Beckham will replace on the Braves 25 man active roster utility infielder Emilio Bonaficio who will be designated for assignment on Thursday. Beckham had been on the 15 day disabled list since June 2, 2016 with a strain of his left hamstring that was injured on June 1, 2016. Beckham will be in the Braves starting lineup on Thursday playing shortstop when the Chicago Cubs will be hosting the Braves at Wrigley Field. Bonificio will likely be either sent back to the Braves minor league system if there is no team in the Major Leagues that needs his services since his batting average of .129 playing in 15 games for the Braves during his three week stay with the team was a factor in getting his designation for assignment happened on Thursday.

Bonaficio is a seasoned veteran who at least will play in the minors. Beckham is sort of at the end of the line starting for lousy Atlanta. His future is utility reserve infielder.
