Mother Nature is Not Being Nice

Yesterday, a system passed through my state and the worst of the storm passed through my county. Lucky me and the many other thousands of residents! I was home alone when the storm got really bad. I seriously felt like I was in the midst of a tropical storm or typhoon. Many roads were blocked because of numerous downed trees and power lines. More than half of the residences and businesses in this one county were without power. Some streets were flooded. The power company has called in extra crews to help restore power, but they are estimating it will still take a few more days. Power outages in the summer months are not easy to deal with. Mother Nature has not been nice this summer. The flooding in West Virginia was terrible. Many homes and lives were lost. The cleanup will take weeks or months. Even though I'm a bit mad at Mother Nature, I feel blessed that I have power and the damage to outdoor items can be repaired or replaced. Photo credit: Public Domain photo Pixabay

Yes, that storm was awful. Most of Raleigh county is still without power. We were lucky to keep ours on also. A friend of mine said the power company said it would be late Tuesday night before her power would be restored.

It's great to see a fellow West Virginian on here. An added plus that you are from the same county lol I'm glad you have power. The number of people without power is decreasing, but it seems it will take a couple more days to restore power to everyone.

@melissa1024 It is unusual to find someone on a website such as this from West Virginia, much less the same county. lol

@Katlynn Yes, I was excited when I came across your post. In my 2 years of working online this is a first I have ran across someone this close by. Yes, power is being restored slowly.

That is a humongous tree. We went up to West Virginia a few weeks after the flood. We are blessed that our home is up high and not in a flood zone.

Yes, you are truly blessed. There were so many homes destroyed. Is your home in southern WV?

I hate when we get storms like that and have to worry about people getting hurt.

Mother nature can be really cruel sometimes but then again, I think we are more cruel.

You make a good point. Sometimes humans are very cruel. However, some can be very kind.

Mother Nature can really show her hand from time to time. Such devastation takes ages to fix. I'm glad you still have power.
