The Phillies enjoyed the services of both Mike Schmidt and Steve Carlton during the 70s and 80s. Since Schmidt was an everyday player he gets the nod. Schmidt played his entire career in Philadelphia and is franchise leader in home runs with 548, RBI's, runs and games. A feared slugger, Schmidt was also a superb defensive third baseman earning nine Gold Gloves. He was league leader in home runs eight times, 1980 World Series MVP and league MVP in 1980, 1981 and 1986. The Hall of Famer was an All-Star 11 of his 18 seasons.
