Homeward bound

Manchester, England

Another short break bites the dust. I shall be heading for the airport in about 30 minutes and catching a flight back to sunny England. The flight leaves just after 11 AM and takes a little over 2 hours, so with the time difference I should reach Manchester about 12-30. This is good timing and means that I can do some shopping for a few necessities in Manchester. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow and an appointment at the eye hospital next week, after which I could really do with a holiday.

This one actually seemed short to me too. Was it shorter than you usual trips, or did it just feel like it?

It was a week. Quite a few of my holidays have been 10 days or 2 weeks, but 1 week is not so unusual for me.

@ElizabethWallace I had an appointment at the doctor's today, so organising a longer break was not possible.

@Asylum Right. So it was one of the shorter ones. That's why it felt short to me too.

Apparently not, unless someone hid it before I reached Manchester.

@TheHorse I sense a touch of irony too, I know it rained in England.

I remember you have a doctor appointment tomorrow (my niece birthday). Will you wait until next week before deciding for another holiday destination? I cannot believe it.

I have an appointment at the eye hospital on 27th Jul, so I may end up at home until August. What a horrible thought.

@LadyDuck For me it may be that or wait until September, which is far too long.

@Asylum I can imagine how depressing this can be. We are not going to move during the month of August, it's the more crowded of all the months.

@Asylum Ah, another myLotter is in that neck of the woods today, escaping the bonfires in Belfast.

You sure must be having statistics about how many days or hours you spend in an aeroplane in a year.

I just thought about that and realised that last year I must have spent 2 days waiting for flights.

@allknowing Travelling by road would certainly not be a viable alternative. Even a journey to Southern Spain would take 2 days by road.

@Asylum When we calculate the hours we spend to get on a plane I sometimes feel it is better to take a train or a bus. I have to first take a taxi to the airport. Wait for the announcement to line up to hand over the baggage and stuff and then wait again for the announcement to check in. Sit in the check in area yet for some time and then board the plane.

I hope you arrived back all in good time. I am on a mini getaway at our cottage. Since I am doing work here it is not a relaxing holiday.

It may not be just a holiday, but the results of any work done add to the overall enjoyment.

For me catching a flight to sunny England has no appeal. Far too far away

You are really killing me with getting back and then looking for a new Fly-away opportunity - does the doctor pay you or you pay him?

The eye appointment will either result in some progress at last or set the scene for another series of non progressing appointments.
