Busy Times but I've Missed it Here!

Good morning (or whichever part of the day it is for you), friends, I'm not sure how long it has been since I popped by but I was missing the place. I've been working on some other projects. Firstly, I have been working as a journalism intern for an online business news magazine. It's a three month internship. It's OK so far. I was hoping that it would give me some experience as well as training. Well, it's giving me some experience but the training is rather haphazard. I've mostly been left to my own devices. That's a good thing for me, but some actual proper training would be useful. All in all, I am enjoying it. I've also been working on my own website, which is a mixture of articles, reviews, and anything else I feel like putting on there. It's my attempt to showcase some work and promote myself as a freelance journalist. I'm also applying for jobs in the industry but it's likely I'll have to move if I get one, because there aren't many such opportunities locally. Apart from all that, I've completed an English degree. I only got Third Class Honours, which is disappointing, but at least I passed. It wasn't the easiest 5 years so, all things considered, I think I've done well to pass. Now, I'm going to take a break from education for a while, although I am planning on going back to university next year (or the year after when my eldest goes to university) to do a degree in journalism. That really depends on what happens work-wise in the next year or so. I say I'm taking a break from education but I do intend to spend some time learning Welsh this year. Partly because it's something I've done on and off for the past 10 years, but also because there are a lot of job opportunities for which I'd be qualified if only I could speak Welsh! It's coming to the end of the academic year. Midi (my eldest) finished his GCSE exams a few weeks ago so he has a REALLY long summer holiday! He's away with his Dad and grandparents this week. They've gone spelunking in Cheddar. I am rather jealous. Midi gets his exam results at the end of next months and then he'll start college in September. He was offered a place at the sixth form at the school he went to but he decided to take up his other offer at a specialist sixth form college, where he'll be, hopefully, studying Maths, Further Maths, Physics, and Critical Thinking. Mini (the youngest) will finish school at the end of next week. He'll be moving up from primary to secondary. We've had a few meetings and extra visits to the school to accommodate his extra needs. I think he'll be fine. He's also doing really well at Cubs and, yesterday, came home with another four badges. His best friend has moved to another school because of bullying but her Mum has asked to keep in touch, which we will, of course. And a friend at Cubs has asked if Mini can stay over during the holiday. I am very proud of my boys. As for D's girls, the youngest passed this year, and has two more years at veterinary college and plans to go on to university afterwards. The eldest, she seems to be doing a good job of being a Mum to our granddaughter, whom D has said we'll hopefully see soon. Although I'm not sure I believe him! I have tried to arrange something but to no avail. Hopefully, we will actually be able to see her soon. She's 16 months old and we only saw her once, when she was about 2 weeks old. Well, that's my story so far. What have I missed here?

Thank you :) I am proud of what I have achieved. I don't, however, want to feel like I have to make excuses or explain and justify why I didn't do better. It's only me who's making me feel I need to do that though!

@pumpkinjam You got a degree. That is letters after your name which says nothing about your grades. As a mature student with a busy family life, you can feel very proud of that. You got a job very quickly on your own merit, from what I gather. No excuses or explanations are necessary. I think. You are on the road and, five years down that road, what will matter is that you made it there. Whether you got a first or a third will not matter one little bit to anyone!
