Are you mentally stressed?

Ha! What a silly question! I mean, who is not? In this fast moving and highly competitive world, how can you not be stressed? Either it is your work situation or it is your family situation. It can be your social circle giving you headaches or it can be the sudden price hikes. It can be something as simple as not finding your “lucky shirt”. So, how do we get rid of it? The answer is, you can't. Unfortunately, stress is a part of our life that won't go away completely until a day comes when you stop caring about everything altogether. So, what to do now? Are we doomed to live under such burden? We don’t have to be. We can work on reducing the mental stress by taking appropriate measures. First of all, maintain a healthy lifestyle. Meditation and yoga are a great way to reduce mental stress. Any kind of physical activity also helps burn away stress, anger and tension. Manage your time and schedule your work as much as possible. Take some time for yourself. It's time to indulge in some guilty pleasures. What is yours? Avoid indulging in unhealthy ways of reducing stress like smoking or drugs or alcohol. They will help temporarily and will simultaneously cause health concerns later in your life. Stop over thinking and over analyzing things unnecessarily. Don’t keep everything inside. It’s unhealthy. Share your thoughts and concerns with your partner or any one close to you. You can even talk to the experts.

Yeah, I am one who allows stress to creep into my life... Only in little ways, of course, but those little ways can slowly add up until the stress becomes unbearable... Then I need to find something that I don't have to think about, that isn't stressful and that will allow me to come back to an even keel again. Usually, that means burying myself in a good book, going for a good long drive or going to the lake, even if I only sit on the bank after I get there. LOL! Over thinking and over analyzing situations are usually how the little bits of stress start creeping into my life, DJ!

DE ...do you know after I am gone there is going to be a new principle that will become uniformly acceptable? That is Vanny's principle, like the Peter's principle. It says...whether you think more or whether you think less, the end result is going to be the same. So live it! I ain't joking...when a shark comes before you...you can try thinking....or not thinking.

@DaddyEvil Overthinking and over analyzing is what my brother is prone to do. lol I don't have the patience to wait. Either I am in or I am out. Though it doesn't lessen the stress.

@Daljinder We spent last night with an old work colleague of my husbands and he dreamt about trying to get outstanding debts paid so he was back being a bit stressed by work.

Reducing one's wants could go a long way in not having many tensions. And those that visit us could be handled giving them time to defuse.

@allknowing You hit it right. Unreasonable expectations are one of the main causes of stress too when they couldn't be fulfilled.

Stress is inevitable as what you have already mentioned. It can be good up to a certain point especially when people become more productive when there's a little pressure. I manage mine by riding on my bicycle and just enjoying a long distance ride and admiring the sceneries.

@amadeo LOL! Great idea about naming kids but it will create confusion if all boys are named "Stress" and all girls are named "Stressie". Sharing troubling thoughts is better than stewing over it. Its good that you share with your partner.

There were times that I got mentally stressed because of my parents or siblings. They contact me just to relay the problems they created. What I do is to put off my phone. I gave them an ultimatum that I'll block them if they keep on doing that. They don't listen to me, hence, they should suffer the problems they caused. So far, my phone has been silent since then. And, I haven't experienced any mental stress from that time on.
