How do you prove that God exists?

By some fluke I came across a discussion on God's existence today and it made me wonder about the question, "How does one prove that God exists?" I will be now scratching my head and come up with an answer, whether acceptable to others is not important as long as I am satisfied with it. How do you prove that God exists? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here is what I came up with and is subject to change as I ponder the question more. The existence of God cannot be proven by someone else. It has to be proven on an individual, personal basis. Why, because God chooses to whom he will reveal himself. If we want proof, we can ask him and if we are the kind of person that wants to know for the right reasons then God will answer and drown us in proof. I personally asked the question that if he really existed to help me to get out of the mess I was making of my life and really meant it and I'm a believer. I was sincere and still am. Proof cannot be demanded. It has to be lovingly asked for. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What proves that God exists to me? * The universe * My body * My children * God answers prayers * The Bible * Jesus * The DNA --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VrcO6JaMrM (Gods Fingerprint? Do we still have to or is it still necessary? For me all we have to do is live our daily lives to know he exists

We are free to do what we like. There are many people that don't believe God exists and by sharing our thoughts and experiences, we might help them do they own search and find God. (Acts 17) Acts 17:27 Amplified Bible (AMP) 27 This was so that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grasp for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us.

@louievill How do I know that you exist? Is it because you wrote a few lines? Well, God had a whole book made up of 66 little books written over a period of 1600 years by about 40 different writers that believed he existed.

@1hopefulman if they do not believe then there is no point in proving, how can you prove something that does not exist, yeah but to prove that it does not exists means that there is a possibility that it exists

For many who may not have encountered God on a personal basis, a lot of them may really try to prove that God is really real and existing. However, I have learned that I don't need to prove God exists. God has proven himself. And when God has proven himself, man is incapable of proving anything without God. Difficult as it may seem, yet a lot of mystery will be answered when man will humble himself to the Creator of life. But as long as man is too boastful or should I say stay being fool, he will say in his heart, there is no God.

So true! God does not need to prove anything to anyone but he is so loving and if we use the right approach He will give us all the proof we need and more. 1 Peter 5:6 New International Version (NIV) 6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Matthew 18:1-6 New International Version (NIV) 18 At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” 2 He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. 3 And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me. 6 “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. James 4:6-10 New International Version (NIV) 6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” 7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

Can anyone prove He doesn't exist? There are those who think they can, but they can't. Proof that He lives is in the very earth we live on; in the stars and the sun and moon; in life itself. There is nothing that was made that was made without Him. In necessary circumstances, we actually could call down "fire from heaven" Elijah style and He would answer. That's proof, but He doesn't have to prove Himself to anyone.

@1hopefulman Sure, He gave us a brain and expects us to use it. He also leads us to the right conclusion when we ask and allow Him to. And yes, one day it will be different!

@peavey Yes, our main goal in life is to learn about God from nature and from the Holy Bible. All other things are secondary. Matthew 6:33 New International Version (NIV) 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Right now He is leaving it up to us to reason and come to our own conclusions but one day it will be different.

I don't think it is possible to physically prove the something not physical like God exists. There is however lots of evidence. Evidence of course always open to interpretation. I have found that no matter how strong the evidence there is always some way to deny it. For me the creation around me is evidence of God. For an atheist it just happened. I see design. They see random coincidence governed by preexisting physical laws. For me answered prayer is evidence. For them again coincidence that didn't involve a divine being. Biblical prophesy that has come true again to me is evidence. To them the prophesies are written so vague they could be interpreted to mean anything or they were in their view written after the event and made to look like a prophesy. The bible itself to me is evidence of God. How could that many writers over such a wide period of time write such a cohesive work. To the unbeliever it's a pack of random fables. I don't know all the answers and I doubt I could "prove" God to anyone who doesn't believe or want to believe. I do believe that the weight of the evidence is in God's favour.

Well said! It all depends on what we want. However, there will come a day when the truth will be made evident.

Thank you Ritu! Would this be an accurate understanding of your statement? "Faith does not need to be proven but it is still totally based on evidence.' Example: You experienced something and are convinced. You know and have confidence beyond doubt that you experienced it even though you cannot furnish any proof to anyone else. Somebody else that was also there has exactly the same conviction as you but how can proof be given to someone that wasn't there? Jesus tells us this: Matthew 11:25-27 New International Version (NIV) 25 At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. 26 Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do. 27 “All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Matthew 16:17 New International Version (NIV) 17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.

It is my experience that we find what we are looking for and ignore what we don't want or don't want to find until reality makes itself evident and rudely awakes us. Mark 9:23-24 Amplified Bible (AMP) 23 Jesus said to him, “[You say to Me,] ‘If You can?’ All things are possible for the one who believes and trusts [in Me]!” 24 Immediately the father of the boy cried out [with a desperate, piercing cry], saying, “I do believe; help [me overcome] my unbelief.”

I remember seeing a sitcom in the 80s where a guy was lusting after a girl. He looked up toward heaven and said he'd stop, "Just give me a sign." Immediately a trophy on his mantle fell apart. He looked toward heaven again and said, "How do I know that was you?" Yes, a comedy joke, but in reality the way that a lot of people act when looking for "proof" for God. I agree that proof is an individual thing. God has proved Himself to exist to me in several ways, but what has satisfied me might not satisfy someone else. And for some, there will never be enough proof to satisfy them.

I think i remember seeing that too. It seems that there is enough to believe God exists and enough to disbelieve. But only one answer will be right.

I know he exists because he has performed a miracle in our family. My twins were written off as hopeless by doctors, but God pulled them through and gave them to me after many many prayers. I had never seen a miracle personally until that time.

If you look around and see the nature, the cosmos, how the human is done....just the universe and all what's in, you just recognize a mayor intelligence. In my opinion, no more proof of God's existence is necessary. But, besides, I had some experience in life which showed me the HE really exists and helps to people who belief in Him and ask for help.

I prove God exists by the things that we cannot see.....We cannot see germs, but we know they exist because of the way they affect us. We can not see the wind but we can feel the gentle breeze upon our skin and flowing through our hair. We cannot see the wind but can see at times the devastating effects of a tornado, hurricane, a. bad windstorm etc. Except under controlled conditions., we cannot see electricity or sound waves, yet we know these two inanimate things exist because of the impact that they have on our lives from lighting our home and appliances to lighting up cities and towns earthwide......How much more so when it comes to the Creator of the universe? We cannot see HIM, but we all experience the loving effects/affects of His, existence and HIS creative works or productions (Psalms 104:24). Really it is a great loving kindness on GOD'S part that HE does not literally show Himself to us individually or as a group or mass of people (Exodus 33:20)

God is a Spiritual Being. Finding physical proof based on the physical laws of this universe might be a challenging feat. In this time- based causal universe, God's actions can be seen. On the other hand, people who do not want God to exist can come up with some kind of excuse that it was not God's action. You have come to the 100% proof sollution. Direct contact changes God from a belief to a Fact rather quickly. I have found few people really want to find God. In the Big picture, that changes nothing. On the other hand, sometimes those who search, find what they search for. Just like you said. Choices belong to each of us. Be who you must! It's a part of the Plan!
