~Everyone Has Their Preferences I Guess~

I post ads for my husband on FB for his remodeling company in different groups. I say things about him and his work. The ads say that he is a Christian family man and says the kind of work he does. In one of the groups some guy went kind of crazy and said he would never hire my husband because anyone anti-gay wouldn't be welcome in his home. Um...that was strange. My husband isn't anti gay-he is about loving others no matter what their orientation is, just as Jesus would want. I have to say that was the strangest comment we have ever gotten on one of his posts...And the guy got himself banned from the group from the Admin because he didn't stop at that comment-he started bashing all together...

To be utterly honest I avoid anyone who mentions religion in terms of work...sorry about that. If it was me I'd take out the christian bit but that's just me. Over here religion just isn't as big of a deal than it is with you...actually it's sort of just seen as a tradition rather than anything more by many people. But that guy was just as guilty as an anti gay would be...he was judging before meeting...just as I am with the religion thing

@Mike197602 Many people here are quite the opposite of that because many people have told him they hired him mostly because he is a Christian. Here people take faith very seriously, people that do have faith anyway. Yeah, he doesn't know my husband at all so he shouldn't have said anything like that.

@LovingMyBabies if he's getting business through that then it is a good idea to mention it. over here that'd be a different story unless you maybe belonged to a large congregation then I expect the religious side would be an advantage. I think religion is big in america due to many fleeing religious persecution from european nations back in the day.

@yukimori no secret I don't believe in organised religion. That being said I know some genuinely believe and do stick to a certain set of values. For some the religious aspect may get them more work as Jens husband has found. In other areas/countries it'd be detrimental to their business. The reason I steer clear is personal and based on experiences I've had.

People are just so enraged. It seems like they don't need much to go off on the craziest things. Sure am sorry you had this happen. Hope this guy gets the help he probably needs.

He has a problem. In fact, he did not have to say anything, just choose not to have your husband. I am glad that when people act out the Admin takes care of it.

That really was a strange thing for that guy to say. My son is a plumber and also has that he is a Christian on his website but I don't think he's ever had someone say they wouldn't hire him because of that

@Marilynda1225 Yes it was weird to me too. I'm glad no one has ever said anything like that to your son. My husband has been doing this for a long time and no one has ever said anything like that before.

That is a very odd thing to say. You wouldn't want him for a customer anyway.
