It has been so unbearably hot lately that the weather is leading us to look for ways to stay cool without breaking the bank paying high air conditioning bills. Right now I am using air conditioning and fans both to keep the temperature inside bearable. It all leads me to wonder about the people and animals who are without these conveniences. I wonder how they can tolerate this heat. As for the people I think they can hopefully find a spot to go to that won't have them wilting from heat. The animals like the dogs and cats that are outdoor pets must be having it hard. They have a harder time finding cool spots. They are at the mercy, sometimes, of owners who think that their pet doesn't get bothered by the heat. I am hoping that there are provisions made for these outdoor pets to help keep them comfortable. On a lighter note, I was perusing Pixabay and found this photo of a dog playing in the water and though it was a perfect photo for a post about beating the heat. Here's hoping you all are having a cooler and great day.

We have only a few very hot days during the year, so nobody here have the A/C. We built the houses so that they can stay warm in winter and cool in summer. We all have shutters, to keep the house shaded during the hottest hours. Today outside there are 92 F, but inside our house the temperature is 75, with no fan and no A/C. I will open the windows and the shutters during the night.

@HazySue I remember that most of the houses in Florida had no shutters at all and no double window glasses.

@LadyDuck you are right. I don't know why unless they think they will keep the hot air in.

@LadyDuck how nice that must be. I wish they would do that here in Florida.

It's supposed to be near 100 here this weekend. I'm trying to stay inside to stay cool.

@JESSY3236 I didn't think it got that hot in North Carolina. I guess it is getting hot everywhere these days.

It's not always easy to have to deal with. We're lucky to have access to a pool. That helps us deal with the heat. We haven't put in our a/c, but I don't mind too much. Like I said, having access to a pool helps.

@HazySue understandable. If we didn't have access to a pool, I'd want a/c in.

@dodo19 Lucky you having access to a pool. If we had one I wouldn't mind the heat quite as much. I could not live without an air conditioner.

You're right - that's the perfect photo. It's hot in England today, though probably not by your standards.

@HazySue I'm guessing late 70s - I don't have a temperature gauge.

That is a cool picture which tells a lot about how you feel. This year the summer was unbearable for us here in the tropics.. But with the rains its pleasant now.

Yes, we are indeed lucky that way. I wonder about how our earlier generations managed to live through such weather. They had some contraptions that were not driven by electricity to keep cool or warm. I like to weather them to some extent - siva

@Shiva49 we don't use the heater much but the air conditioner is used regularly.
