Demolishing homes in the neighborhood

Just watched a beautiful structure get torn down for no apparent reason. It was classically built along old standards, with nary a line out of place, and fit in great with the surroundings...but for some reason it was unoccupied, and the builder decided to demolish it. Really strange...I don't think I had ever seen a spider take down an orb web before...

Don't they pack their webs up neatly? I don't know if we have the same spiders but some are into demolishing.

I guess we will never know what the spider was thinking.

Perhaps there was internally damage that could not be repaired such as extreme termite damage.

@JolietJake They do not realize your total sneakiness. Or irony, or misdirection.

That is more puzzling to me than many of the things that humans do to their structures.

I wasn't sure exactly what was going on at first, but he was patiently gathering it up and then it was gone

Was the spider planning on moving the web to another location maybe?

Possibly, I'll have to wait and see if it puts one back in the same place tonight

Nice. Maybe it's just what they do, regardless of how well the old web is doing. Could newer webs be more sticky?

The owner decided to take the web down for itself before it eats itself.

It's sad to see an old building being torn down. Can't they just re-paint or renovate the building, instead of demolish it? It's sad to see some people do not appreciate old stuffs anymore.

Well if you say that the structure was unoccupied and not used, maybe they are planning to build something better at that spot? Surely they have done it with a reason
