Advice for the Younger Self

I am now on my 30's and I see myself in thriving thirties. I am no longer the self-centered and weak girl as I was before. I am still a shy person but I have been trying hard to overcome it and my travels certainly help me to get out of my shell. If I will give an advice to my younger self, it would be to treasure the people around us especially our parents. They will not be with us all our whole life. Someday, they will be called to go back to our Creator. If you still have your parents both alive, you are certainly a lucky person. Hug your parents. Show them your love. Surprise them and make them feel extra special always. Have a great day everyone! This is my 3rd post since I started to set my goal to post one discussion a day here.Just like me, what advice would you tell your younger self?

It seems that your work is very far from the place of your parents. Perhaps you can just do simple phone calls to know how are they.

You are indeed very lucky to have your parents. When my father passed away, I started to get jealous of those people with their father with them.

@annierose All I can say is,have courage.A day comes when we find ourselves alone in this vast world.Believe in God and accept Him as your father.

I would say to my younger self: I don't be afraid to ask for help. Think carefully about the consequences when you make financial decisions Trust your intuition. If you feel that it is bad idea, don't ignore it

@annierose Yes, that is true. I have made many mistakes, but I try to learn from them.

@Porcospino In fact, it is a process that we need to undergo to learn. Mistakes happen to open our eyes to what should be the proper way to handle something.

You are right, we think people we love will be with us forever and of course it isn't true.

@Marty1 I have my mom still and sometimes I feel like she wants to give up on life too. I hope she will have a long life and be able to see and guide us until we get families and kids of our own.

I will tell myself to start saving money for my future. I should have saved a portion of my allowance before and deposited in the bank.

I agree. Saving helps a lot especially if there is an emergency. I think by now you already have savings in your bank account.

I am not young as you but I am still young at heart... True.. that we have to love our parents. Without them, we could not see the beautiful world.

I have heard some people say that age is just a number and you may be as young or as old as you want to think. I always feel young.Maybe one of the reasons is I do not tell my real age to the people around me in real. Whenever they will ask about my age, I will just tell I am turning 18.

@annierose Yes, that could be true. It depends on how we think we are. It is all in the mind.

@magallon I think so. They also say that if you hangout a lot with kids, then you do not look old. I am lucky I am always with my high school kids, so perhaps I look like a teenager.

I would tell myself to be more relaxed and not to worry excessively. But it wouldn't do any good. I am still the same as I was then.

Have you tried yoga? It says that it helps a person to be calm and relax.
