Burning your Bridges

Its easy to burn bridges and cut yourself off from what you think you don't want to have anything to do with, but the bridges once burnt maybe the ones you really need.
I have seen people in my own circles who say I will never have anything to do with you, having to eat up their own words, swallow their pride and take help from the very people they rejected.
I think its wiser to 'Never say never' because you don't know what tomorrow brings. The world is a small place, it goes in circles and you may have to stand before the same people you disowned.
Have you burnt any bridges in your life or seen others around you do it?

I don't burn bridges ..But I layed me down to become "bridges" to some, but time and time again, the people who used me as a bridge, are the ones who burned the bridge down .. One can only be burned so much that one just need to stop and think and be wise to say never again.. for the sake of self-respect and dignity ..

@sofssu In the last three weeks, one of them who burnt down the bridge a few years ago is making contact and I found myself listening to her anguish about how her life turned out .. I listened without judging .. then, I had a melt down.. Because I was hated by many for standing up to this person and for trying very hard to save her from the disaster that I saw coming but they didn't ..
I had a melt down because now, I can't do anything for her anymore .. and it pains me .. Sometimes, I wish I don't care as much as I do ..

@epiffanie It really hurts to see your loved ones suffering even though they have hurt you.. Maybe just listening was help enough.

@epiffanie Oh Bess I am so sorry. Maybe, the ones who burnt the bridge would be the ones to come back begging.

@crazyhorseladycx You have a great eye and fertile imagination. In today's parlance the distance may be the moat we need.

@crazyhorseladycx The flying dragon.. you see that.. I was hoping someone would mention that.. Love ya.. Thank you so much.. I am always seeing things in the clouds.
'Safety' you say.. maybe then it was better burnt and a moat built around it.

the bridges you burn might be rebuilt again, right?

@ridingbet In relationships it would really be hard.. we would have to swallow our pride and crawl on our knees before we build a bridge.. don't you think so?

@ridingbet Letting go and burning bridges are two different things.. you are right we need to let go of so many things but we don't have to necessarily have to burn bridges where relationships are concerned, I think.

@sofssu yes, i believe in that, but when the water runs down the brim of the glass, i think it is good to just let it go. the bridges may be kept but it will no longer be convenient to walk on.

I try not to do this, I may think it, but I try not to do this, hate burning resources I might need later.

@Jessicalynnt I agree with you, feeling is one thing and going all the way is another.. Decisions made in anger and hurt may not always be right.

I try not to burn bridges, because you never know what your future holds.
