~On Drugs & In The ICU~

I told y'all earlier about a conversation with my friend. She left me in suspense by telling me she needed to tell me something and didn't answer when I asked if it was bad. It was bad...From my title I am sure you guessed that. Her mother is in the ICU from overdosing on drugs. Yesterday her mother was on a ventilator. My friend asked if I would go to the hospital with her. I know her mother as well. I agreed to go of course. Please understand I have never been around drugs in my life, never tried them and I have never seen anyone on them. I had no idea what to expect or what I was walking in to. I was shocked. She was strapped down to the bed. The nurses said she's a danger to herself and others. Her mom was seeing things that weren't there, she thought I was a spy , she called her daughter the wrong name, she thought there was a bomb in the room and when we walked out to speak with a nurse she was yelling at people that weren't in the room. Needless to say I was really sad for my friend and her mother. I cannot imagine seeing my mother like that... My friend was in a really bad way, and I just hope she's going to be okay too. For those of you who pray, please do so for their family. And now I have to try to "unsee" what I just saw...

@dodo19 Thank you. It was horrible to see and she isn't my mother-I cannot even imagine how my friend feels.

@dodo19 She said she's used to seeing her mom like that, since it's been going on for 20 something years but I don't think you can get used to seeing your mother like that...

@shaggin My friend said this is about the 50th time this has happened so we doubt she will ever get clean.

@LovingMyBabies It must have been a shock for you when you saw your friend's mother at the hospital. It is better that she will be removed to a psychiatrical hospital.Your friend can't cope with her at home.

@silvermist It was shocking. I have seen her when she was sober so I wasn't expecting what I walked in to.

That must have been a horrible experience for you, and an even worse one for your friend. It must have been a comfort to her to have you there with her.

It sounds like her mom was inhaling bath salts @LovingMyBabies . People don't realize how deadly that is. I sure hope her mom gets the help she needs; it's not going to be easy on any of the family.

@nanette64 It could have been that, I don't know. It is so sad that she keeps doing this over and over. She's hurting the family so much.
