Library Day

We went to the library today. We have oodles of libraries in our county so we have a variety of places to visit. Sometimes we go to the smaller libraries and sometimes to the larger one. Today we went to a large library. It is further away but we were enjoying the day and doing nothing special It's hard to decide which books to take home when we are surrounded with so many shelves of books. But I did choose. My books are light reading, nothing deep. Just something to enjoy without putting too much thought into it. I kept " All things Wise and Wonderful" that I didn't read it from last time, so I rechecked it to go back with the other books. Hope you have some good books waiting for you.

It's neat that you are writing a book. I have one half done and I'm stuck in a corner and can't find a way to get out. I finally just laid it aside. Completely tired of the whole thing. I hope to get back to it one day.

@crazyhorseladycx I still type and print with our printer. I like to see and hold the paper in my hand. I get a better feel of it than looking at print on the computer.

I have some books that are yet to be read. I have the habit of purchasing books even though I still have books from previous purchases that I haven;t read or finished reading yet.

@RubyHawk I think of books as investments - investments that I have made on myself. Of course, there's the matter of reading these books but I know I'll eventually get to reading these books.

My better half does the same thing. That's why we have so many unread books. I'm guilty too, but I don't buy as many as he does.

Mylot takes time from my reading, too. that's probably why I'm only reading books that are easy and don't require thinking.

I like to be entertained when I read rather than made to think. How long can you keep your books? It is 3 weeks here and normally you can renew them after that.

@RubyHawk That sounds reasonable. Sometimes we can't renew a book if it is a hot new one and there is a list of people waiting to read it. One of our libraries loans out jigsaws too.

@JudyEv We often have our name put on the list for a new book coming out. When the librarian comes to our name she gives us a call.

We can keep our books for three weeks and renew them once more. After that, they must be returned to the library.

@RubyHawk I really just don't have the energy when I take up a book to read. But I do enjoy reading the little time I do.

Do they have a limit on books you can check out at one time?

There's no limit as far as I know. Sometimes we get five or six books each and check them out on the same card.

@RubyHawk ....That's great. I just go online. Can't remember the last time I went to the library. I think they are great for young kids. The ones here have a lot of puppet shows and things like that.

@celticeagle Most of our libraries have a child section with books just for children. They also have activities for kids. Kids love it.

It's so nice to have a public library like yours there . I really hope we also have one here in our province , but i think it's far from one of those to be attended by the local government of ours . But in my high school days , i always borrow Nancy Drew books from our school library .

@RubyHawk I guess that's the craze in our high school days along with Mills and Boons . I wonder , if they still have that now in their libraries .

I do. Sometimes I have to lay them aside. but most of the time I have an open book close by. I read a few minutes while I'm cooking or when ever I find the time.

I have my library books delivered to me since I can't get to the library anymore, but I used to dearly love to go to the library and sit in there for an hour or so, browse and then find a book or two and sit and read for a little while. It's a great way to spend some time!

We used to have a book mobile that came to our house, but that stopped long ago. It was a big help when we didn't live near a library.

When I was homeschooling every Friday was our library day. I miss those days. I have stacks of books at home to read, so I hate to say that I don't make use of the library. I was there the other day to use their computers to print a shipping label since my printer is out of ink. I couldn't believe the changes they have made inside. They are still working on a remodel.

the library nearest us will be torn down soon and a new one built in it's place, I don't know why. It looks perfectly good to me. Maybe it will be larger. It's one of our smaller libraries.

I bet it is really difficult to pick one you really like to read. My brother's books are waiting for me to grab them and read. Aside from my brother's books I have some books to read.
