Wondering if you can analyse a disturbing dream I had last night....

I have no idea what brought this on. I've already spoken to my dad and friend about this. The first part of my dream was easy to work out. So I wont bother explaining it. But the second part is something I don't understand. Basically I ended up in some weird dark house ( like it was night time ) and I walked into a room that had an elderly lady hanging from the roof by some string. I don't know her. But her face is stuck in my mind. I don't know if she did it herself or if someone was trying to murder her but it's like it only just happened a few seconds before I walked in on her. Because she was still alive. I ran up to her and pushed her feet up trying to make the string around her neck loose. But since I am weak, that wasn't working. Then I reached up to her neck, put my fingers behind the string around the front of her neck, and broke it that way. She fell and I woke up. Like what the hell was that all about? I didn't watch any scary movies. I wasn't thinking of anyone being hung etc. Any ideas? Like that is such a friggen morbid dream.

Stupid question perhaps, but what's the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the dream, even if it seems to have no connection?

@msiduri Not a stupid question at all. :) I really don't know to be honest. I can work out the first part of my dream really well because I feel it relates to my waking life but the second part with the old lady being hung means nothing to me whatsoever. I can't seem to link it to anything. Really a mystery to me. But even though I can't make a connection to it, I guess my first thought about it is it all seemed dark. Not just how the room was but I remember feeling dark in it. If that makes sense. As if there were a bad presence there.

@VivaLaDani13 Not knowing anything about you or your circumstances, I would guess it would have something to do with feeling someone trapped by family or home and wanting to help them out of it. The darkness or night might have to do with (a wild guess...) with distance in time as you mention the woman being elderly. Again, this is only a guess. If you tell me I'm wrong, my feelings won't be hurt.

@msiduri That sounds like an interesting way to look at it. With distance in time / the elderly woman. That's really interesting! It could be all that too. I'm not sure. But it does make me wonder further about it all.

This is seriously a morbid dream to have! Did you look for any interpretation? You can easily come across them on the net. Perhaps the dream has no real significance as such but may hold a lot of relevance to your life. Dreams can be fairly symbolic and thus this dream might be a way through which your brain was trying to bring up the issues you generally overlook during your waking moments.

@The_Bong_Woman I haven't really found anything yet on what this dream could mean but it's been very interesting hearing what others here have to say. Really making me think. Thank you for answering! You made some really good points!

What a horrible dream. Maybe it means that someone is choking your dreams and ambitions but you overcame their plans and triumphed anyway. That is what I hope it means. I have read that everything in a dream represents you. I am not sure I believe that, though.

@akalinus That's another great way to look at it actually! Thank you for answering. I am not sure if that's what it means either but hey, gave me something to think about.

@Macarrosel It sure was a horrible dream. Although I have had a lot like that. Not really about hanging but I have had so many nightmares with morbid things happening. Thank you for answering! :)

@Mike197602 And that's only one of my dreams lol I often have some horrible nightmares. I was literally just going to say "Things happen that I wouldn't even dream of" and then I remembered we were talking about dreams. lol I'm too tired to think and make sense right now. Thank you for the link!
