I hope that you are all doing well and enjoying your summer. I have been a bit busy this summer trying to update some of the paint in my house. You might find it amazing, but with all those little fingers come lots of fingerprints. I clean, love that "bald guys" sponges, but it only does so much, eventually the paint has to be touched up and/or redone. That is where I am now. I have also been watching both conventions. I am a bit of a political nut I guess, I like all the debates and conventions. I also wanted to pass along some new information I have learned, to any of my friends that are battling high blood pressure. I refuse to take their pills, so I try to find other ways to keep mine lower. I have found drinking Cherry juice first thing in the morning with or after my breakfast has helped my numbers a bit. I have also added a banana or watermelon to my morning breakfast (for the potassium). I still have times and days when it gets a bit crazy high, but these things are helping. Have a beautiful day!

I hope that I can get into a regular routine on some of the things I eat to keep it lower. Make them a habit so I do not even have to think about it.

@SIMPLYD What is annoying is when they told me I had high BP, they told me I needed to take pills. Not I need to adjust my diet, exercise more, or anything thing else, just take these pills. I did not want to take the pills, so I have had to do some at home research. Not everything they say will work works for me, but I am trying them all and seeing what does work.

I am trying to add them to my diet more, I really do not like them. I have added them to a few smoothies, they do seem to help. I need to find other things to cover up the taste.

I could drive my bp higher by looking for my cuff. It is always high at the doctor's office. It is fine at home. Cherry juice also helps some people sleep and helps with arthritis pain and gout if it is sour cherries.

Doctors recommend not using those home machines, most are not accurate. Your bp changes throughout the day, that's quite normal.

@AbbyGreenhill I have noticed it is different throughout the day, I pretty much know when I am "off" I can also see it in my face, my cheeks get red as well. I really use it as a guideline so I can be sure not to go to high. I find I feel the worst when I get to low though.

I am the same way, they irritate me and I treid to explain that. But I do run a bit high from time to time. I have found if I watch it, by checking a couple times a day, and pay attention to my body, I do pretty well.

I love that photo! Thank you for the tip although fresh cherries are so expensive here so maybe I will settle for the bottled cherry juice.

f you do not wan to take the pills, yes you should try. I have made it a part of my breakfast routine. Have you tried chia, I just sprinkle it on whatever I am eating, it has no taste so does not change the taste of your food. I still have off days, but they are not as high as they used to be. I was hitting 212/98 on a regular basis and had to do something. But still did not want to take their pills.

That's good information about the cherry juice, I should look for some. Good luck with your painting, that is such a dreaded task around here that we hire it out. But the end result is always worth it isn't it?

Well, that might work if your bp isn't too far over the top. At one point mine was 198/85 - so meds are my friend. If all these 'so called remedies' really worked the pharmaceutical companies would already be out of business.

Yes, 100% and just a small juice cup each day is all it takes. I was reluctant because I do not like anything tart, but it is not tart and is pretty good. I remember you also battle high blood pressure and might want to try it. take care

@mom210 i rarely buy juice because my kids drink it so quickly. i'd have to buy it and hide it.

Not sure where my mom learned it but she's been swearing by cherry juice for a long time. Now, with that said, she used to buy the more expensive kind. Now she gets the Juicy Juice kind. She says it works the same. I guess it's supposed to be 100% juice so maybe works the same, or is that part in her head. Either way if she thinks it works the same then I'm sure not going to say anything to her about it!

I take a pill but I'm in my 70's and its a bit late to depend on fruit. I too am watching the political mayhem that is going on and on. My vote for Hillary is already in NY and counted. When we first moved here the house looked lovely, now my family room needs a new rug ( grand dogs ) and a new ceiling and the rest of the house could use new wall colors but I'm too lazy to do it. We will have to hire the family room floor and the ceiling but thinking I could get a panting party for the walls with my grown kids and their partners...

That is good you can get your adult kids to come in and help. I like that idea, maybe feed them some burgers or something when they are done. That could be fun

Well, I do not know if I have it figured out, but at least I am on to an idea that helps. Seems like some things work for a bit and then I need to change it up, so I will continue to search for things that help, that way if one does not, I can try another. Hope I can keep them stored up in my head.
