now im not sure what exactly is going on here> i"ve been dOiNG great typing several comments out and not having quite as much problem with those el's, but now other keys are doing their own thing even though they're not stuck, nor were they dribbled on as far as I know. The cap key only works when it wants to. A lot of time it changes and won't let me change it back. Hey, maybe my keyboard is... shhhh, haunted? I doubt that as i don"t believe in such things When I want to use the caps it won't when I don't want to it does it by itself. I just saw the the right shift key is stuck down also. Oddly enough, I've not eaten here since yesterday and that one wasn't affected before. another thing that"s been happening is when i"m almost done with a comment my page decides to flip back three pages to where i WAS bEFORE. THis has happened three times thus far. At first I thought maybe I Was clicking on the wrong scroll bar at the side since more than one browser is opened right now, but I dunno. Just going to sit here scratching my head a while. I doubt it's all related, but I'm clueless currently.

Ha, Nikki. Maybe you have two browser windows opened up at the same time too and mixed this post up with another you just read/ I understand how it works here and how money is made. That's not what this one is about.

@carebear29 I only said that because my post has nothing to do with what you said in your comment, but thanks for stopping by anyway.

LOL! It sounds like you are having a great time, Marsha! (grinning and teasing at you!) Uhhh... the new keyboard doesn't also incorporate a touchpad, too, does it? What is happening to you sounds like the same kinds of things I had happening when I got my NetBook eight or nine years ago. It turned out I was accidentally touching the touchpad while typing. That caused the cursor to jump all over the place, as well as the CAP key locking on or refusing to lock when I needed/wanted it. I fixed the problem by reducing the sensitivity of my touchpad. (I had to do that same thing with my new Hp laptop and my new tablet pc.)

No it doesn't have a touchpad with it. The caps were getting stuck when I shift to do just that, but it didn't let go after the first letter was typed. I ended up using the caps lock, which wasn't goo-ed on and hitting that on and off as needed for the first letter of each sentence. I've since reverted back to my older keyboard which was also sticky, but I was able to take the keys out more easily and clean the whole thing enough so that it works fine again. I've been keeping it covered or under the desk when food is nearby.

@MarshaMusselman LOL! I understand, now! I don't eat around my keyboards, so have never had trouble with sticky keys! (grinning and teasing you!)

Looks like its time for a new keyboard or maybe a clean up of your existing keyboard.

new green keyboard © Marsha Musselman
This one is my newest keyboard, purchased just last weekend. I should know better by now, not to eat near it, but it seems we don't learn the simple things that we should. I got a different type to try to make it last longer and it's harder to clean than the other types I've had. Here's a picture of it for you. I wrote about it before this post.

Thanks, but the best tip is to quit eating near my keyboard, methinks.

It looks like something got at your keyboard. I hope whatever has infected it, moves on out and you have control again, soon.

It was stickiness, Valerie, from eating at it too often. I'm using my older one again after I took time to clean it first, so it's doing much better now.

@MarshaMusselman That is a problem. I really need to stop eating at my computer too, but that will be a hard habit to break. I'm glad it's working better for you now.

So I learned something. . . I should use pipe cleaners to dust between keys. Is this a laptop or desktop that is giving you fits?

desktop, and a new keyboard to boot. I thought it would be easier since there isn't the same space in between the keys and the board itself, but it's proving to be worse than my older one. The other one I could at least pull out the keys one by one when desperate and clean them individually. Not so sure what to do about this one or whether the pipe cleaners will work enough or not.

Now I can't help with this at all but I did have to laugh a bit at the way you described everything. I hope you get it figured out.

I hoped you manage to solve your puzzle, but you know I won't have any suggestions as I know so little about computers.

A bit ago, i had to go to word and retype my comment that was in all caps to the normal typeset and then paste it back into the comment area on someone's post. I did clean it some last night, but will probably purchase some canned air with helps a lot with cleaning stuck keys.

@MarshaMusselman I just hate sticky keys on my keyboard, I once took all the keys off and soaked them in soapy water, dried them all off and put them back, perfect no more sticky keys.
