I Listened to the 'Believe Me' Speech

I don't want to be completely ignorant of what's going on in this election, so I listened to Donald Trump's acceptance speech just now from Youtube. Donald Trump is a businessman. If you were going for a job interview one thing they ask is Why should I hire you? Well he told why we, the American people, should hire him as opposed to Hillary Clinton. He had a lot of 'Believe me' statements in that speech. What would be really great is if he could really deliver on his 'Believe me' claims. He did make Hillary Clinton out to be the worst possible candidate for the office of President of the United States. And isn't that what we need to do when we apply for jobs - tell our future employer why we are better for the job than someone else? Though in an honest job interview I don't think you should name the names of your other opponents for the job. In all fairness it should be up to the employer to judge between the candidates. So we, the American people, are about to hire someone in November for the office of President of the United States, and the basis of our decision rests on who makes the best speech during the conventions, and whether we believe they will deliver on their 'promises' to us. Did Donald Trump convince you he can balance the budget, take care of crime, and build a wall on the border between the US and Mexico? Did he convince you with all his numbers and names of victims? Did he convince you with his outrage of all the violence that has taken place lately? Did he convince you with how bad the world has become in just the last 8 years and that his plans to fix it are the best? Did he convince you or did he just give a good speech for itchy ears? Would you hire him for the job? Now to be perfectly fair, I will need to listen to Hillary Clinton's acceptance speech. I'm not into politics. I don't watch it or pay much attention to it. I can't tell you who is the best candidate for the job we are about to hire as our next President. But I can pray that the decision America makes will be the best one. Thanks for reading.

Earlier I was actually hating Mr. Donald. I recently had an opportunity to evaluate the things at International level with the statements he made with great guts and firmness. I really liked him. His statements, with particular reference to certain things are needed for U.S . Even for the other countries. They will definitely give some relief and peace to the people of U.S. His statement particularly on Muslims is most welcome. Constructing a Mexican wall ,,,,it is left to the Citizen of U.S. to think about. However, he is a good businessman and also an astute politician. India will also be happy if he becomes the next...to U.s.

I am voting for Trump. He may not be perfect but he is way better than Hillary who has so much scandal and corruption in her background. I don't trust Hillary at all.

I'm sorry to hear it. And Trump doesn't have scandal and corruption in his background? Talk to the businessmen in NY he left behind. And his ex wife.

There is one thing that I know, the politicians do not even write their own speeches, so how can we trust what they say as they are not the ones who wrote the statements?

That's true, but they also need to agree what the writer is saying, so what he talks about is something he does agree with.

@just4him This should be, but most of the time they said what their stuff suggests them to say in order to convince people.

@LadyDuck I agree. Which is why we always see such a turn in what they promised during the campaign to what they actually do once they are in office.

From where I come from, if somebody is working really hard at making me believe them they don't keep saying believe me. That statement gives me tons of reasons to want to run. I believe more action than constantly saying Believe Me!

He convinced me again that his ego is bigger than his mind. Any candidate who says "I am the only one" who can fix things and has not one concrete plan other than to build that fence (will never happen) is talking through his hat.

One has to remember that he is after all in the show biz and he knows how to attract and rally the crowd. Many are attracted to him for his entertainment value. But he shouldn't be taken seriously. Hope he doesn't end up being your next president due to a freak result.

There was that businessman a few years back who almost got as far as the nomination. I think he would have been a better choice now than Trump. I think that guy was from Texas, though I could be mistaken.

The late Paul Harvey said on his radio broadcast that any time a politician makes a promise to either end a war or make our nation great again it will never happen. It is easy for us armchair quarterbacks to play the game but when we have to get our feet wet on the field we all find out it is easier said than done.

@just4him I sensed that he addressed the American people with his RNC presidential nomination speech with respect, and with 'fear and trembling'. His VP, Mike Pence also unapologetically noted clearly, "I'm a Christian, a Conservative, and a Republican. In that order."
Mike Pence: "I'm a Christian, a Conservative and a Republican. In That Order"

@just4him My brother and his family live there. My husband's, as well. The West has great political, socio-economic, and military influence among your allied countries. B.Obama is antagonistic against Israel and its PM Netanyahu. And at the DNC, there was never a mention of the world's enemies-- ISIS, terrorism and illegal immigration to USA! But the world is 'groaning' for peace and safety. RNC and Donald Trump addressed that bravely, that as a Commander-in-Chief and President-- to protect the American people and your country. THAT, and the exemplary Brexit from EU's open-border policy, kind of influence.

I may not be from the same country as yours but I'm following the November election, and the extraordinary campaign of America's Billionaire candidate Donald Trump. Truly, he has made a lot of promises to the American people and I think that mostly in the middle class of society down to the lower class have made a movement out of this election campaign. Your next president will affect the affairs of most countries in the world. Therefore, I hope that your next leader will not be a person who is a hireling because a hireling doesn't care about his flocks and run away at the first sight of the wolf coming. Please do not hire your leader.

I understand what you are saying, but we would be hiring him to do the job. We will be voting him or her into office to do the work we elect him or her to do. I only hope and pray we won't be electing a wolf to watch the sheep.

I enjoyed Hillary's speech last night. And former President CLinton's the night before. Her daughter spoke in introduction and it was real nice too. He says he will do it all when Hillary is honest and say we all will do it together. I sure hope that no one falls for Trumps B S. He has calmed down and isn't as nasty to people as he was in the beginning but to insult a judge and discredit news casters is beyond me. What a creep!

I may have heard portions of Trump's speech. Seem to remember him saying the only person who can fix what's broken is him. As for Clinton, I didn't listen to her speech at all. Sorry. Right in the middle of a K-drama series. Two leading men and I'm rooting for the underdog good guy. Last episode I finished, the underdog and the other good guy were throwing blows at each other again! Yeah! Second fight. Both fights over the same thing. A girl! So they got in another fight and I'm like: “Hello! The lady and the baby need to be rescued! Quit wasting time fighting each other and get the real bad guys!” The bad guys in this series are really bad! Anyway … I figured my husband could give me a recap of Clinton's speech. He's good at that. He's more in tune with politics than I am. Always has been. He can give a really good synopsis of most political happenings even better than the reports you hear on The Daily Show.

Sometimes fictional drama is better than live drama. Though the live drama can be quite entertaining though unbelievable for the most part.

If you haven't heard it yet, Hilary in her speeches did as much to speak against Trump as he did against her, as did her supporters and speakers...that was actually one of the arguments "Anyone but Trump", as Bernie and others said...and that seems to what it is coming down to, or has been for a long time..."if you don't like Hilary, just do it, it's better then Trump". One group accuses the other of fear mongering...but the reality is it's on both sides.
