The rain dance worked!

Hip Hip Hurrah! No, I didn't get down and dirty but I did run outside and observe the beautiful rain falling on the dry ground! The first storm only brought 1/4 inch of rain - but luck was with us and later we got the most rain we've had in months - one inch on the nose for a grand total of 1 1/4 inches. The grass and the garden are very appreciative. I can also stop worrying about idiots tossing out their cigarettes and landing in the dry grass. Yay, glad you got rain! That reminds me of a time when we were in a drought in NY state. My kids and a couple of friends decided to do a rain dance around the coffee table. They really hammed it up. The clouds started gathering and it rained for four days. I know this is a coincidence but it was so funny.

@AbbyGreenhill Surely you would not do a rain dance in unsuitable clothing?

@AbbyGreenhill I think we're supposed to get more rain over the weekend so it should certainly help even more than the little we got the other day

We had rain this past week and the plants are looking a little healthier, but the grass is still brown rather than green and the ground still looks parched. We still need more rain.

Our 'grass' is really weeds and they are hardy enough to have stayed mostly green even w/o water!

I don't know where you live, but I do know that several states are in drought condition, so I'm glad you finally got some rain. We are supposedly 7 inches ABOVE our normal rainfall for this time of the year and I can believe that. We've had a LOT of rain and now a LOT of summer storms, dropping rain and hail. Even some flooding in some areas of Virginia.

I'm in Tennessee and we are in the next to highest drought level. We are about 11 inches below normal. This is the dryest summer in our 15 of them here.

I don't ever remember a summer in TN being this dry. My water bill attests to that.

@AbbyGreenhill I bet it does, I think if I recall correctly the last dry summer we had that probably wouldn't even be classified as a drought was 1988

I am glad you got much needed rain. Last night , right before it got dark, we had a nice heavy rain shower that lasted about 15 minutes. I was hoping it would have lasted longer, but it was still a nice amount for the garden and other greenery.

At this point any amount of rain is accepted with smiles! I had planned on watering the bushes out front this morning, so with the raid I didn't have to!

yes ..you are lucky to get nice rain. happy people.Hee in India rain is a sin for the people residing in urban areas. Just a night rain have changed the situation in the so-called big cities like Bengaluru, Delhi and Maharashtra. Thee is a power cut. There is a traffic jam for about 19 km. People are totally stranded. Now, it is for the Legislators to swim in those waters. People should drag these people ask them to swim in these waters.
