We are all aware of new drugs and diseases. I am sure many people will remember polio and an iron lung. It is great they are not heard of any more Hopefully some of the serious illnesses we have today might become extinct tomorrow..

That would be great. I would love to hear cancer has been eradicated.

@ramapo17 Yes, I agree. After seeing the devastating effects of Alzheimer's on my mother, it will be a great day when that one is also cured along with dementia.

@just4him My mom had it too and it is not a pretty sight. So sad to see a mom go through that. Actually, the whole family goes through it when one member has it.

We have a cousin who has polio. He is now 27 years old. He is using his two hands to walk. He wants to walk that way than use a wheelchair.

Polio was pretty much a thing of the past by the time I arrived on the scene, but there were a few parents among my friends that lived with various reminders of that particular illness.

It was very big back in the day. Glad it's over. I haven't heard of anyone having it in years

Sure they will but since most of us will be gone by then we won't know for sure. You have a typo in your title.

I remember standing in line in the school gym waiting with my family to receive the vaccine. The vaccine was too late for my mother-in-law and the boy who lived next door to us, but thank goodness it came in time to save many.

You are so right but there is always something to take its place.
