A New, New Mower

I somehow deleted my post. I did indeed repeat myself in the title. We have had totally bad luck with mowers since moving. We got tired of trying to deal with used ones, and bought a new one at Wal Mart. We used the new mower perhaps twice, or three times. It quit starting. Hubby looked at the filter, and it was full of oil. He tried putting a new air filter on, it still did not start. Today hubby took the mower back to Wal Mart, who immediately gave him a new one, no receipt on hand and no questions asked.

Wow. that's pretty good! I have never bought anything like that at Walmart that I can think of. I hope the new, new one works out well!

I have in the past. I am hard on mowers I think. i have a large uneven yard and this one has high rear wheels. Often you find the same mowers at places like Home Depot, but they cost more. I had just as soon get one at Wal mart.

@GardenGerty I have had really good luck with Sears mowers. I have had two and they were both very easy to start, even after setting all winter.

We went thru this a couple of years ago. My husband brought home a new rider and he thought it odd that there was gasoline in the tank already-legally they cannot be sold like that unless they are sold "as is" which isn't new, but he bought new. After he cut the grass once it refused to start. And it was difficult because we have an SUV, but this wouldn't fit in it, and we don't have a trailer to haul in behind, so he asked the neighbour if he'd take it back in his truck, which he did. He took his money back and we found another one, at another store and had it delivered. Its worked great ever since!

Wow that is so lucky they gave him a new one. I bought one a few months back that I haven't even used yet. It was from Walmart as well so I hope I do not have problems with it. If I do I bought a warranty for it for $12.

That's the beauty of dealing with big firms - they rarely quibble when you return goods.

Wow that actually impresses me! Walmart has given me problems with returns over the years so I congratulate both of you on this! Hope the new one works for many years to come!

Good luck with the new one. I have a Black and Decker electric lawnmower, and I just love it. My hubby made fun of me for getting it, but I dont have to worry about it not starting, and it is tough as nails.

Thank God my husband works on small engines because 3 quit working this summer and when he had time he got them running again. His issue was finding time to fix them.
