To good to be true

refrigator,

The owner that we bought the house from left a gas stove which works good but I do not like gas. But I will use it until it quits working. This morning when we got up the refrigerator was not working. The freezer part works but not the other half. The stuff in there is not cold at all. I hope it is something simple. Buying new appliances is so high. We called a repair person and I hope it is something simple we shall find out when he comes.

Our fridge is getting there too. It still works, but it's not really energy efficient and Hubby insists we should get a new one (oh but I just hate the prices). Hopefully the repair person can lengthen the life of your fridge!

I hope it can be fixed. It still looks new to me. But I am not sure how old it is.

@jstory07 Yah, it does look fairly new! I see you have an ice maker too. Hubby has wanted an ice maker for so long because that's what he grew up with (I didn't so I don't care). He think he just wants a new fridge with an ice maker .

Me too. I wish you luck on a cheap repair. More often than not we find stuff in our fridge's freezer thawing cause that freezer works when it is in the mood.

We have a fridge freezer we're looking to off-load when we move house soon. You can have it for nothing. Might cost a bit to ship though!!

I don't like gas either, because the smell, but I hear it cooks hotter.

I've also heard...from a friend that's into researching such things...that gas can cause health issues!

Personally... As someone who enjoys cooking, a gas stove is the only way to go. The food cooks more evenly to me, and most chefs would agree. However, some people just don't like it, and that is okay. Where I am at, I have an electric stove, and would trade with you in a heartbeat, if I could. But I can't, because it is not wired, to handle a gas stove. I am going to have to move to a place where the "plumbing" so to speak, is set-up for a gas stove, if I want to get one.

I don't like to use gas stoves either. I prefer to use electric and I want a flat top stove when I get my on house and double ovens built into the wall. I hope the fridge problem is something simple as well.

Sometimes, all you have to do is vacuum the coils behind the fridge. I hope it's nothing serious. Appliances are a huge expense. Btw, I love cooking with gas on my rangetop. The ovens are electric.

I prefer gas over electric and our home had electric - we converted to gag (propane).

@jstory07 When you live in the country propane is the only option in most cases. No different that using gas.

i hope it's something simple with your frige. Sometimes the back freezes up and you can thaw it with a hair dryer. I'm not sure what it is but it's something near the floor. My better half used to do that before we moved into an apartment. i love a gas stove, When we moved to this apartment, I thought I would hate it, but now I like it better than electric.

My fridge recently quite working too. I got a replacement at the Restore (used). It works great, and it was half-price day, so I only paid $37.50 for it.

I'm sure you found out by now whether or not it can be repaired or whether it's better to just get another one. Cooking with gas isn't all that bad. We've had both. If you have to replace it maybe there's a place in your area that sells refurbished appliances. That may be a better fit for your pocketbook rather than purchasing a new one.

Tryed moving it to a higher vvoltage outlet? could be that its not getting enough power. Most fridges focus on the freezer more.
