It took 9 years to finally capture this

Boobear is demonstrating that the water has gotten too low for her to put her head in and get a drink

I've talked about my furbabies a lot, those of you who've read my discussions probably know about Boobear. Did I tell you she turned 10 in June? Did I ever mention she has a water fetish? Well, this little imp loves to play in water which I have yet to capture on "film" but finally I can show you what she does when she wants me to realize the water in their bowl is getting low She will come to me and start the waltz, you know the one, right? Then when I go to pet her she'll look at me and start walking away, she keeps her eye on me to ensure I am following her. She'll do this to get me to check either her food or water bowl and if the water is half empty she won't put her head in it to drink, instead she'll use her paw to scoop water to drink then she'll look at me to see if I noticed. Of course the minute I see her do this I am prompted to clean the water ..... oh sure, the water wasn't dirty until she stuck her paw in it now there's hair in the water. It's about time I had my camera ready for this.

Awww, how cute! When Daisy was a puppy, she would actually play in the water bowl. I can't tell you how many times I had to mop the floor and dry her off. I found out if I didn't put that much water in the bowl, she would leave it alone. If it was full, she would play in it. Luckily she has outgrown this and hasn't done it in about 5 months.

@rebelann I agree as I haven't heard of cats liking to play in water before reading your post. I think it is so cute the way she has her little paw curved to drink from it.

@rebelann Of course she does! I think animals know a lot more than we give them credit for.

Well almost, I don't seem to understand her quite as well as she'd like.

Mine likes to drink out of the bathroom faucet and ingeniously knocks a glass down in the bathroom when she wants me to turn on the water.

In that first picture she is wondering why you are pointing that thing at her.

You are perceptive. She actually looks at me like that if her food or water bowls are less than completely full. It's to let me know she wants a refill.

I thought cats didn't like getting their feet wet. Brilliant sequence of photos, I loved them.

Thank you. Oddly enough lots of cats like to play with water but wouldn't want to be immersed in it. My Spunky liked to play in water too but I never did capture him when he did.

My cats seem to prefer water they can see. If they try to drink clear water, they stick their nose too far in. They pull back and sneeze in surprise. They'd rather drink from a muddy puddle outside. Then they can tell where the air ends and the water starts.

My kitties don't go outside so they're stuck with clear clean water.
