To wash brand new clothes before wearing or not?

What's your take when wearing new clothes? Do you wash the clothes before wearing or just cut the tag off and proceed to wearing? Just a thought, when I took off the tag of my new yoga pants and I am currently wearing it now without washing. For me, it depends on the clothing article. For instances like panties, bras, bathing suits, towels - they will definitely get washed before wearing/using without thinking. However, some items that I know have not been worn, I don't have a problem with wearing them before washing. For instance, these yoga pants, if someone tried them on - you would tell since they're rather tight. But items if I cannot tell, I will wash them first. Just curious on what you all do?

OH yes! That's right. I don't wash coats/jackets too especially dry clean ones. I will wear them a few times then have them dry cleaned but I don't own many.

I only buy washable clothes and I wash everything before wearing. I hate the though of where stuff might have been or who touched it LOL!

Haha true. =) But for these yoga pants, if someone wore them it'll be stretchy a little so I think it's okay. But for other clothing articles I'll wash them.

I would wash underwear, towels and sheets before using but normally wouldn't wash pants or shirts beforehand

For us, we wash it first before wearing it. Because sometimes, there is a strong smell of paints on designed shirts that is not good if mixed with our sweat.

Oh yes! That's right =) Some fabrics don't smell great but usually I won't buy those that smell like that.

I always wash new clothes before wearing. I worked in a sewing factory years ago and saw some things that make me definitely wash before wearing.

I prefer to wash them first before wearing, the material in unwashed new cloth feels different than if it`s first washed. Not only that, l want to know how much will go in before l start making it a part of my wardrobe.

I asked this same question. lol. I bought a night gown today and I am washing it before I wear it. Not because someone could have worn it.. because the store is not that tidy. It could have fallen or anything. panties and bras here can't be returned so that is not a issue. Anything I buy from China goes to be washed first. I don't trust the handling at all.

Yes, I was thinking this when I tried on my pants without washing =) Anything undergarments like sleepwear, undies, panties, etc I will wash prior too. Better to be safe than sorry!

If it is in a bag and obviously hasn't been worn I don't bother washing it first.

I usually try them on then wash them if they fit before wearing them for the entire day. I usually shop at the salvation army or other thrift stores so they are not brand new.

@infatuatedbby Yes, you can. I usually do that for the jeans. But most times when I go every few months is for a sale and the line ups are long.

I wash everything before wearing. Even the yoga pants because you do not know who has touched them or what has been done to them. Plus, I think new clothes have a strange smell! LOL ! I wash sheets and towels before using also.
